You calling us hat devils...? ;) This is my first Akubra straw, after being dissatisfied with the crown shapes of cheaper toyo straw brands like Scala. So I wasn't sure what to expect. Sizewise, this Balmoral fits very much like a felt Akubra -- I wear a 58, and this is ever-so-slightly loose...- H Weinstein

Wearing a fedora when it's windy
Had a hat blow off my head a couple of times, but never lost one. (yet!) If I know it's really windy, I'll just stick with a baseball hat, not a loved and valued Akubra. If it's breezy with an occasional gust, I might risk wearing a western hat with a stampede string (very practical addition).- H Weinstein

Which Akubra styles resemble these Spaghetti Western hats?
The Akubra Arena and Bobby hats are a relative bargain right now -- both under $90 (US) from Everything Australian (add about $23 for shipping). The Rough Rider is around $95. Please let me know if you have any questions about any of these hats. I should mention, 4" is a LOT of brim...- H Weinstein

I change bands on several of my hats, depending on mood and season. Depending on the type of band, if it's snug enough, it should stay where you put it (assuming you don't do handstands!). Akubra makes several wide-brim (3.5-4") western hats which might work for you. You'd have to make a few modifications to get the spaghetti-western look, but they don't require master-hatter skills.
