My point was they were no longer manufacturing muscle cars by the 80's. Many camaro and mustang owners who I went to high school with thought they had muscle cars, but they were not. They knew that once they rode in a real muscle car. I never said I knew all on muscle cars, never did I say...

Give a Newbie a Break Redux

While I don't believe his movies to be the greatest of all time, I must say I enjoy most of his movies and take them for what they are, entertainment. I have noticed he often alludes to a past movie in another of the sequel or another Lucas film To me it is not rehashing so much as it is a...

Thank you for the reply, I have long wondered. I did not remember the name of the club in TOD, but that certainly does sound very Lucas.

Give a Newbie a Break Redux

I wish somebody could could explain this to me: If it is a site about Indiana Jones. I remember a character in Star Wars, Obi Wan Kenobi. However, I remember no such character in the IJ movies. And they weren't played by the same person either. So how is it that a IJ bulletin board is named...

I will say again, as noted above, there were no muscle cars in the 80's. In fact the average HP now is far above what it was in the 80's. Muscle cars were dead by 1974.

 Lets see, i had grandmothers, a mom, numerous aunts and great aunts who all lived in the 50's and 60's and they found nothing appalling at how they were treated. They all had good jobs, families and in every way loved life.

One note of correction in the above Rafter post, many other things being true, but there were no muscle cars in the 80's. The insurance industry and fuel shortage of the 70's killed the muscle cars by 1974.

    Dress shirts are dead.

I'm certain that's why they make different styles. Cary Grant was able to look good in any style. I'm no Cary Grant. For the most part, especially with certain styles of suits button down collars look terrible on me, and to my eye on almost everybody. There are other style collars i think...

Most war between the states reenactors I know, even the most hard core, do not dress in any way vintage of that era when not reenacting. They may wear an item like a cavalry style hat or period style coat or boots, but not the whole get. Same goes for Cowboy Action Shooters. I don't know any...

    Dress shirts are dead.

I don't have any problem finding nice shirts at a good price. Some of the discount places already mentioned, plus I probably get most of mine at sierratradingpost.com . Sometimes I do have a hard time finding dress shirts w/o button down cvollars. I usually wear ties when I wear a dress...

Salvation Army is more, for used furniture, than the new furniture store? WOW[huh] :eusa_doh: Somebody needs to rap them on the head with a ratchet and say, 'hey wake up I think you missed the point here.'

I will have to pick that up. I find the history of the middle east to be fascinating. I have read others' writings on this and would like to read his.

Why do I hate the 1970s so much?

My God if that whole last statement wasn't the complete truth strike me down now. Oh how I hated those pants.

I agree. There is way too much consumption. For years I have bought a lot of my clothes at consignment shops. My wife goes to court all the time dressed in consignment suits and such (yes unfortunately she gets in trouble a lot) and she gets a lot of compliments on being one of the nicest...

:eusa_clap Nicely done Marc. I knew that would be your answer. I simply found it to be a potential irony, hence a morsel of thought for some to consider.

And for that Lizzie, I applaud you. As a person who has almost all old furniture I find it sturdy, obviously it is it has lasted this long, and nicely designed. Plus I enjoy that there is history in my house.

I live pretty close to Al Gore. I take my cues from him. I use as much electricity as possible every month, then offset it by buying me some carbon credits.;)
