Bluegrass Green is really nice in person, and won't look like Smokey the Bear unless you shape it that way. I find it goes with everything I own, but then again, I'm a pretty boring earthtones kind of guy. Give it a shot. -

Shantung "straw" hats
Garrett- that's a whole other level of shantung, really nice. I agree about the modern shantung and toyo westerns, they die pretty easy around here. I either sweat them out, or if they get rained on, they turn into an oatmeal-like substance that oozes stiffener. Plus, they're so damned stiff... -

Love that shoeing photo, looks like something William Matthews would have painted in modern times. One of the hardest parts of being a cowboy as well, absolutely back-breaking labor, unless you're a very short, wide cowboy. Always killed my back after doing it a few hours. Keep them coming, boys. -
Akubra Campdraft
I had one or two Akubras arrive like that, it was from the packaging strip around the outside of the crown that held the hat in the box. They brushed out easily. Let's hope that's all yours is. Frank. -
Zip it
I had a steer sold as horse Long Half Belt that came with some pretty visible scratches on the sides of the zipper area, on the front panels. Looked like someone was dragging their fingernails on the leather while trying to get the dinky zipper to pull up. I didn't really mind, as I intended...- frussell

I got one of the "storse" LHBs ( not on purpose), and it was every bit as stiff as my FQHH Teamster, and much, much heavier.
