Oh, I'm in love with this darling little dress! Forgive me, but I may have to copy you in purchasing.
But I'll call you before I wear, just to make sure we aren't wearing it on the same day. Hee hee!;)
Now THAT is pretty darn interesting! Thanks for that great bit of fishnet history, Jitterbugdoll!
Now this might sound wacky, but I like to wear my fishnets over a pair of nude hose. They just look a bit more polished that way. I've found that this also helps from busting out the toes as...
Ooh!
You know, I've walked into many an thift store/estate sale and found a cape and priced very cheaply too.
Capes are divine--I think
I think I need to buy that thai silk for a dress. What a great vintage style pattern. Thanks for sharing!
I agree with that! Whenever I wear one of my corsets, I always look so much better--sleeker. I think most women's slinker dresses could benefit from one.
So many times I've walked into a restaurant and almost wanted to write the url for girdlebound on a napkin and hand it to a woman. It's not...
I have a real penchant for vintage eyeglasses. I think I have about a dozen pairs so far. And they snap of any outfit in an nice vintage way.
Oh, and vintage knitting patterns. Kills me every time! I'm always lurking on eBay trying to find them.
Lady Day, that dress is divine! You are double inspiring me to get rolling on my dress. And I hear you on the piping! Piping gets me every time!
Oh, where did you get the pattern, if you don't mind me asking?
I'll second ADS hats
Juts the dreamiest ones. I'll try to remember to take a picture of my modern cloche tonight to post! It's perfectly dreamy!
And I completely forgot about the "House of Elliot" series. The last time I watched that I was in England. Hurrah for the BBC and all that good...
My pocketbook may never survive this thread! I've already seen such goodies!
But my heart belongs to SF's Manifesto. And even Suzanne Castillo may close her little online shop for good after this season, so I just bought these two darling little dresses for an engagement party...
I remember reading in some beauty book ages ago that recommended that women over the age of 65 should not have long hair.
But really, as with many people on this board, I think it is the wearers choice. I've seen great long and short hair on darling little old ladies. So really it all depends...
DecoDoll--
After I put up this post I went to the Manifesto site and was delighted to see that the line is still going, so I'm headed over to Mac this week to see if I can find a nice sun dress for this party I'm going to in Colorado. I'm so glad Suzanne is still keeping the dream alive!
I just went to that place on California and Hyde and came up with some really nice vintage dresses from the 40s. The owner Spig certainly does a girl right!
Ladies,
I know we try our best to get the real deal whether from hunting on eBay or even making our own clothes based on vintage patterns. But sometimes, you just need something NOW.
My favorite vintage-inspired retail store, Manifesto in SF, just closed its doors. A touch on the spendy...
I guess my mother was very strict because I wasn't allowed to use make up until I was 16.
The day I turned 16, my mother took me to the local drugstore to buy a tube of Revlon "A La Mauve" and some blush.
And so began my love affair with lipstick!
They call me Dottie.
Hard not to with the last name like Dotson.
And--boy oh boy--has is stuck! So much so that people are begging me to keep my last name after I get married.
And the Miss part just sorta happened. I like to think it's because I'm such a lady... :whistling
I was wearing a vintage dress yesterday and I think people commented more on the fact that I was wearing a dress more than the fact that it was vintage. Ha!
LD--Remind me to start a stop staring thread.
My friend wears wigs and when her hair was shorter she relied on wiglets to give her that longhair look. If I didn't know her I would have sworn that that was her original hair.
And now that her hair is long, she sometimes wears her marcel wave wig when she wants to add a little bit more...
