Glad it worked out in your favor!
For those pushing the use of Paypal F&F because it "protects the seller", what do you expect will happen when the same scammer (or his brother) posts something for sale here on the Lounge and demands Paypal F&F, and upon receipt of funds all the buyer receives...
Some of the things we build today amaze me. Even more amazing are the things built in the 1800s and early 1900s with the equipment and tools they had back then!
Nice choices! I never wear T-shirts as an outer shirt, always a Henley unless I'm wearing a full button-up shirt - really like them as an alternative to a T-shirt.
Yes, White's warranty is one year, so I would contact White's directly if the retailer is stalling on you.
Photos would help - I assume this is a celastic toe (basically a resin=impregnated layer put in to hold the toe shape, not as a safety toe)? These will get softer as they take a beating...
Seconded. I see you've already placed an order so I won't try to convince you further, but I use Mitchell's Wool Fat soap daily and really like it. As already mentioned, it doesn't lather into a high froth like some soaps do, but it works very well all the same.
Hopefully not to drag this discussion too far off track, but here's another of my OWL favorites, "Maud Bows to the Virginia Creeper", taken in 1956. To me this photo does a great job of capturing a bit of rural life in the mid-1900s. How long has it been since it was "normal" for kids to drag...
Interesting catch! That particular shot was taken in West Virginia, I believe, near the Virginia line. You never can tell where those Yankees will show up. ;)
Edit: Sorry, you meant the first photo with the fuel pump, my mistake!
Sure looks like an O. Winston Link photo. He was famous for his steam-era train photos, especially on the Norfolk & Western and other Eastern lines. He did a lot of brightly-lit night shots that gave stark but beautiful contrasts.
Here's one of my favorites - a lot going on in this photo!:
There are a lot of ancient structures using MASSIVE stones, perfectly placed and fit, on several continents. I've never seen a believable explanation for how these huge blocks were cut and fit so perfectly. Moving, I guess, could always be accomplished with rollers, ropes, and enough brute...
I've worn brimmed hats all my life, but I have never figured out the reason for flipping the front brim up like that. It seems to me the same as wearing a baseball cap backwards. I'd sure be interested to hear anyone's thoughts on this, as I've wondered about it for years.
Pretty certain that's a whale. At a couple of points in the video you can see the tail flukes break water. Of course, it could be an unknown sea monster, too. Who can prove otherwise? ;)
I love the colors in that hat, Eric, although with all the white background I'm sure the tones in the photo may be off some as compared to real life. Pecan or whiskey, I'm guessing, with charcoal trim?
I always enjoy seeing your posts of your hat activities! Thank you for sharing these.
Understood, thank you! I know next to absolutely nothing about horn music, but the mutes I remember seeing in the past looked something like this, although not as full on the bell end:
Sorry to go so far off track, but I'm always amazed at the diversity of the things I learn here, thanks to...
