    Dressing for HOT weather?

I wear a polo or camp shirt with chinos, casually, but I may be looking into getting a linen suit soon. Which wrinkles less, cotton or linen?

"Mad Men" on AMC (US) - (Spoilers Within)

My favorite theory is that Bob may be a spy for another agency, or possibly the government. This could also affect Don and his identity theft in Korea. Bob could also just be a nice, but ambitious go-getter type as well.

"Mad Men" on AMC (US) - (Spoilers Within)

I've read that article, and I'm hoping it's not true. I think it would be awfully sad if it happened. It wouldn't make me appreciate Mad Men less, though, as there is something to still be gained through tragedy. After watching the latest episode (I recorded it), I'm wondering if Bob is trying...

"Mad Men" on AMC (US) - (Spoilers Within)

On the surface, Bob Benson seems like a nice, likable new guy, but he's also suspicious. How on Earth could you not find him suspicious? He seems to be peeking into the business of the others whatever opportunity he has, and seems to be establishing relationships through gifts, which itself...

What's your opinion on that Bob Benson guy?

    EMC Militaria WWII Reproductions

I own a pair of EMC Militaria reproduction WWII Service Shoes Type II, although I knew going into this that they were not completely accurate. I like the way they look, even if they may be cheap compared to better options. This is a picture from their website, I don't have a picture of mine yet...

    Show us your TIES

What do you make of this navy knit tie? It's by Briar, I'm assuming it was made in England, and I'm not sure how to date it. It is 3" by 54". I own a 3.5" by 54" yellow Briar knit as well, but I think made in California. I'm using eBay images, but I bought it...

"Mad Men" on AMC (US) - (Spoilers Within)

The Crash also reminded me of that Star Trek episode from season 1 where most of the crew gets infected with a disease, with the wild way they were behaving.

"Mad Men" on AMC (US) - (Spoilers Within)

They certainly did. Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce (or what it is now) is full of creeps. Did advertising agency employees in New York do drugs nearly as much as the show portrays in the late '60s? How much of this is true?

    Thin ties...any thoughts?

Very nice ties, Dinerman. I own almost a dozen vintage narrow ties by now, and they comprise most of the ones I wear these days, being between 2 1/4" to 3" in width. I even have a couple of knit ties that are 2.5", but I also have a wide one of 3.5", which is harder to find in my experience.

    Hair Loss

There was an I Love Lucy episode that explored the hair loss dilemma, "Ricky Thinks He's Getting Bald," and a lot of the bald men in that one wear toupees, except for Fred. I think toupees in general were pretty popular, but I'm not sure about how much. Humphrey Bogart had supposedly worn one.

    Hair Loss

Whenever combovers are mentioned on other boards, that guy's all over the place. Apparently, he's from the website Slickville, which I found out about through my membership here (via the haircut or pomade threads), it's a weird site though.

Frustrated! Addressing people by their title, and other 'old-fashioned' sayings

With some frequency, I address people as sir or ma'am, occasionally madam. These are almost always strangers or acquaintances. I don't find myself addressing others as Mr., Mrs., or Miss nearly as often, and normally it is directed towards a middle-aged or older person.

Was it always this expensive to live in New York City?

After having read an article, I wonder if it was always this expensive to live in New York City, especially Manhattan? I am not very familiar with the history of the city or that area, but at the turn of the last century, was rent particularly high compared to any other city in the US? What...

I've been reading some posts about knot planned, could you explain what that means? Certain ties only tie well as certain knots, you mean?

What was the last TV show you watched?

I had just seen the first two episodes of Alfred Hitchcock Presents, and The Glass Eye of the third season. I think I found myself an excellent new show to get into. It reminds me of The Twilight Zone.

What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

I watched Casino, my favorite modern-era gangster film. Robert de Niro's suits and clothes in the movie were extremely flashy, but he owned the styles very well.

"Mad Men" on AMC (US) - (Spoilers Within)

My idea is that Pete Campbell is both an unlikeable fool, and an occasionally sympathetic character. Most of the main characters could be that way; Don, Roger, Joan, Peggy, and so on. Some characters on the show I really like right now are Megan, Ken, and Michael. I've always respected Bert, and...

    Hair cuts

It's been a little over a month, and my hair's grown out noticeably again. Next week, I think I'll have the barber cut it even shorter on the back and a little more on the side than the last trip. I'm thinking about taking two inches off the top, too. When I style my hair as a pompadour or...

    Brooks Brothers Great Gatsby Collection

If money were no object, there would be plenty from this collection that I may consider wearing. I like the style, even if it isn't completely accurate. Even if it's a movie tie-in, I think it's cool that they're exposing people to these options. I agree, wide legged trousers isn't my style...
