    R&B

I third this. I've had both of the Blues Masters: Jump Blues volumes for almost a decade now and I still listen to them on a regular basis in my car. These two cds, Louis Jordan, Wynonie Harris, Ruth Brown and The Treniers are constantly on rotation in my car.

    Trouser gals

:) I never fail to be amazed by all the different body types nature creates. I've got a good 5-1/2 inches between the bottom of my ribcage and the top of my hipbone, and it really affects the fit of pants on me. By the time I get pants that are long enough in the rise - they are gigantic every...

    Dita Von Teese

Dita is also very tiny naturally. 3 of her would probably make 1 one of me. I think I could fit her in one of my pockets alone.

    Trouser gals

I have a vintage linen pair that are heavenly in the summertime. Wool would be too hot for me in the summertime.

    Trouser gals

Ditto with what Ruby said. I've owned quite a few pairs over the years and the crotches are always lower than on modern pairs. Usually about 1-2 inches lower, depending on the pair. I find the lower crotch to be much more comfortable. I think because I am long waisted and have a long rise...

    Show Us Your Purchases!

I think I paid around $60.00 for my pair, but that was maybe 5 years ago at the Indy Rockabilly weekender. There was a vendor there selling them in all shapes and sizes.

Holy inflation, batman! I bought a pair of Lucky Lous at Indy a few years ago and they weren't nearly that expensive. I never wear them either because they really make my feet hurt. I've maybe worn them 3 times at the most, I should probably just sell them.

Do you ever think you are going insane?

A total aside for dollydaydream - I have an original copy of the knitting book that is pictured in your avatar! :) Everyone wears sweaters!

Do you ever think you are going insane?

My Gertie kitty likes to drag socks off to her underground lair (a.k.a. under my bed where she ripped a hole in the underside of my box spring which she uses to climb into the box spring through). It can be quite a pain to fish out her prey (my socks) back out of the Gert Cave (the box spring)...

    Cute Vintage-y Shoes

Just wanted to let you gals know, Macy's website is having a shoe sale and you can get an additional $10.00 off of a sale price of $50 0r more. I just got these cuties in black for $39.99: I've seen them in person and they're much cuter than the pic. They have a nice round toe and the ankle...

    Cuckoo clocks?

I have an antique one that used to hang in my hallway, but I had to take it down because I have a bad kitty that can't resist wrestling with the dangling chains and weights. lol

    Crochet anyone?

I've heard of lefties using mirrors to learn how to crochet/knit because all of the instructions are for righties. If you looked at the mirror image of your hands (if you are a leftie), it looks like you are a rightie. I hope that makes sense. She might be able to something similar to teach...

    1920s and early 30s repro?

Has anyone ordered from Our Dancing Daughters before? Are they still in business? I'm wondering only because their site has been up for so long and it's never been updated, it makes me wonder if it's been forgotten about by the owner. I'm really considering ordering the Lupe outfit to wear...

    New target commercial......sigh.....

There was a huge "gay 90s" fad in the 40s (dresses with faux bustle backs, doll hats, etc.). A Lot of 60s fashion were inspired by 1920s looks. And as I said, a lot of 70s fashions were inspired by the 1930s. I seem to remember quite a bit of thrift store chic in the 70s where musicians and...

    New target commercial......sigh.....

I just saw the commercial in passing on tv and didn't pay much attention to it, but from I got from the commercial was that they were inspired by the 70s takes on 1930s and art noveau fashions. If you look at a lot of 70s fashions, they are very inspired by 1930s and art noveau looks. I think...

    How tall are you, Ladies?

lol Hubby & i are the same way. He is around 5' 10"/5' 11", I'm 5' 6", and we both have a 30" inseam. His sleeve length is longer than his inseam. He's all torso, like a chimpanzee (or humanzee as I call him). lol

    How tall are you, Ladies?

It's surprising to see some of the heights here. Especially when you get an impression of how tall people are from their pictures and it's different from the real thing. I'm 5' 6". The average woman is about 5' 4". I guess that means I'm taller than most, although I've never thought of...

How to clean vintage barkcloth with dry rot?

That's what I would do. Cold water in a bathtub with some Woolite or a similar gentle cleanser. Swirl the panels around in the soapy water in your bathtub with a big stick like a broom handle. Then drain the tub water and fill it with clean cold water and swirl it around to get the detergent...

    Show Us Your Purchases!

Is this an Enid Collins purse? If its an Enid, it's worth money. I got an Enid Collins purse at a thrift store for $3.00 years ago with cats on it. Knowing that people collected Enid Collins' purses, I bought the purse to resell, but grew fond of it and kept it instead. I wish I could find a...
