Gosh, I'm so sorry I didn't see this the other day! Since I started my new job, I just haven't had the time to browse the boards like I used to (which has been very good for my bank account, incidentally!) :)
Not strictly a vintage comment, but I've been wearing my red lipstick more than usual and yesterday my mom said "You just look so cute in your red lipstick!" Which means a lot coming from her :)
I don't know how much it would help, but you might want to search YouTube for some etiquette videos that might be posted. I've seen some from the 50's and such, but don't have the links handy. HTH!
I decided to go out on a limb today and wear one of my vintage shirts with my denim cuffed capris and the shoes I posted in the Purchases thread...my hair is styled as it is in my avatar, but with my normal glasses.
A gal I work with is so cute - she's about 15-20 years older than I am, and...
I haven't been feeling very vintagey lately...so nothing in that department. Like I said last time, if senior photos count, then I've been working my tush off on those, and making more jewelry. You all have made such lovely things!!
I don't think I have any photos of my from Prom (I'll check, but can't make any promises - lol!)...but I do have a few photos from when I was younger :)
Aside from my wedding rings and the bracelet my hubby gave me as a valentine's day present, I only wear the jewelry I make. But I have a growing interest in brooches and pins (what is the difference - any one know?)...
This was my first purchase...and it's a lot larger than I anticipated!
Shimmy Sally,
It's large all through the top - the bust is a bit large, and the shoulders are a bit large, but not dreadfully so. The largest part on me is the waist - it just needs some definition so it doesn't look like a potato sack when I wear it!
That sounds like a brilliant idea! I wonder if I could get hubby to help me (so long as he promises not to pin me to the dress  !)
Thanks, Chickpea! :)
I have a sewing book at home - I'll see if that has any tips in it as well. I'm just worried I'm going to ruin the dress...
*repeats to self* I will be a big brave dog...I will be a big brave dog!!
I honestly don't know of anyone in my family who was involved in WWII aside from my (step)grandfather who as since passed away. I did a report about him in middle school, but being the dumb kid that I am, I didn't save it. :eusa_doh:
Shelley, I see the words you're typing, but I have no idea what it means. LOL!
The bust is already darted (is that even a real term?!) - can I just modify those, or do I have to make new ones? Have you ever known some one to be so frightened of their sewing machine? :eusa_doh:
I just received this darling dress in the mail...
The dress is huge - I knew it was going to be a little too big when I bought it, but I think the seller was a tad off in the measurements. I swim in it!
I was checking out the seams last night - it is definitely a homemade dress (no...
