The film I've linked is an 8mm home movie of my mother's communion party, I am guessing the film was shot sometime between 1960 and 1963 (my mom was born in 1954). What dance moves are she, her friend and my great-uncle dancing, and what kind of music was likely playing?
Her parents were...
Help finding a shirt?
I'm trying to get some old black and white photos colorized and need some help with clothing colors...
This picture is from 1975, and I am guessing that the shirt was thus produced sometime in the 60s or '70s.
I was hoping to either find the same shirt or find something...
I will tell you when the photo is NOT from to narrow it down:
It is not from 1969, as in a photo from September 1969 my mother has shoulder length hair.
It is not from 1970 or beyond.
Based on the way the people are dressed, the cars in the photo, the vegetarian and level of sunlight, can you guys help me approximate a month and year for this photo? It was taken in Connecticut, if that helps as far as the month part. The cars could help with the year.
From a home movie...
Looking at a lot of old family photos from the 1930s/1940s it seems the general rule was for men not to wear their wedding band. I've looked at photos from both sides of my family and all of the men pictured were happily married men, in some cases religious men who dearly loved their wives--but...
In the early 1970s, former US President Lyndon Johnson let his hair grow long:
In an interview with his barber at the time, his barber said: "We've been letting it grow out slowly over a period of months."
"Grant [Johnson's barber] said the new look is influenced to some extent by Johnson's...
I'm curious--
In terms of the fashion, and overall atmosphere/feel, how accurate is the show Mad Men in its early seasons to what the early 60s (60-64) were actually like?
I mean in literally every area, the '70s were hideous. Clothes, hairstyles, morals, the mainstream pop was horrid....A case in point, I was watching the 1974 Great Gatsby...So dated, so horrid, so cheesy. So many movies from the '70s--outside of the classics---haven't at all aged well, even...
In the 60s, the Connery years, were the Bond films appreciated by the GI Generation (1910-1924), or were they more often something Boomers enjoyed? Just out of curiosity, for anyone who grew up in the era.
When did Gable (in his lifetime) cease being the "King" of Hollywood? What I mean is, around what year/what film did he cease being the most popular actor in Hollywood, a certain box office draw?
What, in my fellow forumer's minds, separates the Golden Era from the Roaring '20s and the Post War/Americana era ('45-74)?
What, to you, locks the Golden Era between the '30s and '40s? Where does it begin--1933? 1930? Where does it end? 1945? 1949?
What is, in essence, the Golden Era to you...
