I used to have a very cheap red felt hat like jughead's when I was a little guy. My dad got it for me, though I have no idea where he found it. I pinned on buttons I'd collected. I remember finding the hat as a teen and seeing that one of the buttons was a marijuana leaf which, as a tyke, I'd...
I'm afraid I'll only be echoing what Feraud has already posted, but here goes.
I don't dislike Double Indemnity or Maltese Falcon by any means, but they are shiny, pristine studio pictures and sometimes - most times - I like my noir a little grubbier, with fewer sets and more location...
Give The Set Up another try some day. Robert Ryan is one of the great though almost forgotten actors of the forties and fifties. Other Robert Ryan appearances in the Film Noir Collections include Act of Violence (with the other great forgotten actor of that period - Van Heflin), and one of my...
I agree with all of them - and there are a few missing.
I do like The Seven Year Itch more now than I did in the past. (Because I'm married? Because I'm old?), and Tom Ewell is much better than he's given credit for in the article. Also, Dean's performance in Giant kind of, pretty well saves...
I think I will not take that bit of advice, since it is a clear admission of fanboy guilt. My answer to "Indiana Jones!" will be "Who's that?"
Anyway, COW is an enthusiastically specific but generally respectful and civil forum - just not my cup of tea. For weird, paranoid, disrespectful and...
Cate Blanchett looks and sounds a little too much like a girlfriend from my distant past, and Shia Labouff's Al-Pacino-in-Cruising costume is a little, um, well, Al Pacino in Cruising, but the movie looks like a lot more fun than I ever would have bet it would be. Now I'm a believer; I'll be...
Auctioneers allow bids by proxy or telephone. Get on the phone to these guys and arrange to bid - and if you win, to have it shipped. You don't need to fly down and be there in person.
Even if this was possible, and even if it ever happened, does anyone working on Land of the Lost: The Movie believe it is the right kind of edgy, out there, remarkable materiall that warrants branching and or stretching?
Hope not.
I have now officially posted more words on Land of the...
Someone does get killed in the play, but lives through the movie! The opening sequence is nice, and Stanwyk and Ryan are very, very good - I love Robert Ryan - but Paul Douglas is just awful and that creepy little J Carrol Naish just stinks the place up whatever he's doing. A definite side bar...
lol Very diplomatic.
Dragnet was a stinker - a total waste of time and attention.
If I was a betting man (hey, wait a minute, I am!) I'd bet that Land of the Lost will also stink.
But I've been wrong before. I predicted that Titanic (the movie, not the ship) would be a disaster...
