    All Dolled-Up for the Holidays

What a wonderfull photo, Audrey! In Norway, we eat Cristmas dinner and open the presesnts on Cristmas Eve, (24th,) and to not dress up is generally frowned upon. Not that you need to do tuxedoes and gowns, but anything less than dresses for the girls and suits for the menfolk is not acsepted...

    Non-traditional engagement rings

When I proposed to my man, we were still poor students. But I thought it would be romantic to propose to him with a ring and all, so I just went out and bought a very plain silver band. Almost like a wedding band, only in silver. The next day, he got me one to mach. Only that the ring I bought...

Fun with a hot glue gun...

Yoy can give yourself a nasty burn with it! At least, that's all I have managed recently!;) Seriously, the hottest, biggest types are handy for repairs and such around the house. You can glue down footlists, lamps etc.

    Vintage...Don't fail me now!!!

My favourite carved wooden wedges split like that, allthough not all the way through. And since it is wooden wedges, lucky me can just make new vamps from leather and nail them on. I feel with you! Retromodelsari, that is a GREAT idea!

    Vintage Manicures

If only there was a fast and pratical way for cutting proper shapes out of masking tape, the kind you use for painting windows e.t.c. I think that would be the best material. Just thinking out loud here;)

Vintage dressing for... the lesser endowed lady

I have to disaggree upon that I think that one of the advantagdes of been small-breasted is that I can wear quite low-cut things. I think a low-cut dress is sensual and elegant on me, but with a cleavage the same dress would have been rather tacky. I find the best style to be halter-neck!

    Altering Sweaters...

Yup, I've done it a couple of times. It's easy and it works, as long as the sweather has sewn seems in the sides. It also works on t-shirts and similar items. 1)Put the sweater on inside-out. 2)Use pins to take it in in the sides as much at you want. At each side you need at least one...

I am planning a New Years Eve-party and I would love some ideas for a traditional dinner. We are toying with the idea of making our own version of the "Dinner for one"dinner. For those of you who are not familiar with the consept, this is a sketch shown every year in Norway at christmass...

    Where to buy hair bandanas?

I'm sorry if this has been answered before, but I didn't find this in any searches. I am looking for a good webshop to buy myself some pretty cotton bandanas to use in my hair, (more or less Rosie-style). Anybody knows of a place to buy those, preferably cheap, larger in size and in many...

    love sick :(

I have no good advise, other than this and I know that it might sound stupid to you now. But here it goes: It will pass. I promise. Sometimes I look back at heartakes that was so awfull then, but now I can hardly remember it. I know that it is impossible to belive right now. But don't try to...

What made you fall in love with retro beauty?

I've grown up with in a family with an interest in history, and I got classic cars, Raymond Chandler and Casablanca from my dad, Poirot and other classic crime fiction, (both in books and on screen,) from my mother. (Who has been told by more than one native english speaker that her english is...

    Good Make Up Brushes?

That is a great idea. I use natural hair paint brushes to paint on my eye-liner, they are the absolute best and much cheaper than make-up brushes. I haven't tried other sizes for other make-up tasks, but I'm sure it will work. You can also get a great deal on brush-kits on ebay. Bought a set...

    Pear shape body...

Great pictures! And look at that last pic of MM: I think I spot cellulites!:) Clearly, the myth of cellulites as a flaw was not yet invented, and so thought of retouching this. Great to see!

    Pale or Tan?

Many of the Fedora girls claims to be very pale by nature. I wonder: Are we a naturally paler group than the rest of the society,(and if so, why?) or are the rest of the world fake-baking and sun-bathing til the cows come home?

    Pale or Tan?

A physiscian here in cold, dark Norway recently wrote something about that. He means that the dangers related to vitamin D defiency is actually worse than the possible cancer-risk of a little sun exposure. He even recomends to spend a little time in solariums in the winter! Of course, he created...

    Pear shape body...

I have found that my vintage/history interest is really helpfull when i train myself to accept my body. It helps to know that the beauty ideal of our times is only one amongst millions of others in the history of men. and, interestingly enough, very few of these ideals seems to have been...

    Dita Von Teese/Frederick's of Hollywood

I think this page shows really good retouching. Take some time to watch the pictures, it is a really good boost for the self-esteem to see that not even the movie stars look like movie stars naturally! Was it Cindy Crawford that said that "not even I look like Cindy Crawford in the mornings."

    Pear shape body...

When it comes to pants, high waisted is the way to go! Hipster pants is a devilish design made to make everyone that is not stick-thin look awfull. Grrrrrr. I really hate hipster pants!:rage: I have never owned a more comfortable or flattering pair of pants than my vintage wide-legged...
