    a vintage Thanksgiving

Oh roasted brussels sprout sound great. How could I forget mixed sweet pickles and pecan pie. When I was growing up, we had 4 pecan trees around our house, so my dad use to make pecan brittle! Mmmmmmmmm Doug

    a vintage Thanksgiving

You can't have Thanksgiving with out green bean casserole. My own family traditions include cranberry relish (a combination of cranberrys and oranges(peel and all) put through a coarse grinder and a little sugar added). Some good buttery biscuits or rolls. We generally prefer crescent rolls...

Golden Era Preservation in Your Area

See now that is a classic original McDonalds. In my opinion this building is every bit as significant as many of the other buildings pictured in this tread. This is classic mid century architecture. Doug

Yeah she had quite a interesting screen presence. I would like to have seen where she could have gone in Hollywood. Doug

    Film Noir?

Crime Wave is a great under appreciated film. When you get the chance, listen to the commentary on it with Eddie Muller and James Ellroy. Almost as entertaining as the film itself. Decoy is an interesting and very strange movie! LOL Doug

    Film Noir?

I need to look at Dark Passage again. I must admit the first few times I watched it, I had a hard time getting past the first 3rd of the movie, where it is almost all POV. I also have a hard time with The Lady in the Lake, which is one of my favorite Chandler novels, but I have a hard time with...

The Black Book is available on DVD. However I believe this film is in the public domain, so I don't know how good the quality is. http://www.amazon.com/Black-Book-Robert-Cummings/dp/B0000D1FG4/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1320592036&sr=8-6 Doug

    Film Noir?

Any movie poster with Betty Grables legs on its is okay in my book. But add to that one of the very first films noir.....awesome! Of course they changed the title back to that of the original book, I Wake Up Screaming. Doug

The French always seemed to have better posters in the late 40's than the American versions. Though in this case the American wasn't bad either. Doug

Thank you Quigley. And no need to apologize. I knew when we shot these that some folks might not think it was in good taste. My feeling was that while we were shooting images that were a little bit sexy, they were basically innocent in nature, and tastefully done. I was also careful to never...

We were very respectful, and not a soul complained. Its really a beautiful cemetery, unusual because of its desert landscaping. That section is mostly populated with folks who passed away around the turn of the century. I was surprised how many died in 1918, until I realized it was the year of...
