Pinching front and tucking the crown made it fit better so I decided to keep the Stratoliner. The cool thing is the aviation theme as I have worked in the aviation field my whole career starting with the Navy and spending the last 27 years with an airline. I can't seem to get away form...
I'm just trying find a gray large brim fedora that fits. I thought I could fit in a 7 because the 7 1/8 Open Road I bought is a bit big.
- The dark gray Stratoliner is from the 40s based on the liner timeline. The hat is super clean and the liner is immaculate. The size tag still has the...
Just delivered today. I tried to date the Strat and guess, based on "liner timeline", it is from the 40s but I will let the experts judge. I have now bought multiple sizes and measured my head to be a 7 1/8, but the Open Road Twenty Five was big at 7 1/8. I figure the Open Road was stretched as...
The Greatest Show On Earth via netflix. Many fedoras and Charleston Heston sporting a nice leather. I must admit that I am discovering the value of the older movies 50s and earlier are soooo much better than 99% of what is being called entertainment(which is another topic). I only recently...
I am perplexed by hat sizing.
-My first and favorite hat is an old Borsalino homburg size 4 1/2 which fits snug if not a tad tight.
-2nd hat was a Stetson Royal size 7 (looked to be a more modern version a modern logo) which felt a bit loose
-3rd hat was a Stetson 25 Open Road size 6 3/4...
Sorry that your hat and glasses were stolen. I keep my hat with me in Church and it gets kind of tricky holding my Bible, notepad, hat with communion requiring another level of dexterity. I am convinced that Church is full of sinners, myself included, going through the sanctification process...
The smell of Jet exhaust brings me back to the USS Midway watching flight ops, parking in Subic Bay, Hong Kong harbor, Fremantle Australia,etc...
Those were exciting times, but life today is soooo much better.

You've really got the vintage look down, I like it. I have modeled my style after the 30s, 40s, & 50's since i was around 15 year old. The style and quality of the early to mid 20th century cant be beat which is why I bought my 38 Chevrolet and want to live in and own a California Bungalow. Keep...
I have learned to no longer buy things just to have them, but I have learned their are better ways to care for stuff while you have it.
Thanks for the advice, it is appreciated.

Hello,
I picked up a very nice Open Road that turned out to be too small for me so my wife will wear it.
-one problem is the hat has a musty smell inside that I cannot get rid of.
-any suggestions on getting rid of musty smell?
Thank you,
Mike A
New old question.
-I have been told that it is better to get a hat a size bigger than smaller.
-I know I wear a 57cm which converts to a 7 1/8, but my new/old Open Road is a little loose.
-I was told you can use some kind of filler to make the hat fit a little better.
-What is the best...
