I received a message last week asking if I would be interested in a purchase, a very special one. A J Press Chesterfield was sitting in the back of a closet and needed a home. The price: not cheap. But I knew I would never have a chance to buy another one, because there likely isn't another one...

I don't know anything other than the homburg I have. Mine is very nice, so I believe they were a maker of fine hats. Remember, Empire State Hats Tops 'Em All!

I was putting them on and the shoe horn (vintage, made of real horn) slipped and sliced through the leather of the shoe. It was a freak happening, and I was shocked the leather gave way like that. I figured it must have been the result of dry rot.

The brim certainly seems to behave itself better than my Artlite (I think you and I got ours around the same time). The brim on this one is a little narrower, too, though.
