    Your favorite silent movies.

"The Man Who Laughs" (1928) - A real heartbreaker with Conrad Veidt. Ever wonder where Bob Kane got the idea for the Joker?

    Was once my love ...

Strider, you may want to cut back on the number of times you read "V for Vendetta". Once a day might be overdoing it a tad. ;)

    Old swashbucklers?

I'll second "The Adventures of Robin Hood". I'd also recommend: The Crimson Pirate (1952) - Pirate film with Burt Lancaster. Captain Blood (1935) - Errol Flynn's pirate film. The Mark of Zorro (1940) - Tyrone Power and Basil Rathbone. For a really good funny swashbuckler go for "The...

What happened to panamabob on ebay?

I just won one of their auctions today and sent my payment three minutes after I received the e-mail stating that I won. I'll be patient for the hat but was impatient with myself to get everything underway and paid for. I've never owned a Panama before and am incredibly excited to get my hands...

Latest addition to the Belly Tank household- An Adventure...

In that last picture your baby has a great Gloria Swanson "I'm ready for my close up Mr. Demille" look going. She's a gorgeous child and you have my hearty congratulations.

If you said you looked like one celebrity from the Golden Era...

In my case, I'd say I look like either Edward G. Robinson circa Little Caesar or Lou Costello.

The Works: Shave, haircut and shine

I've been looking for someplace around here (Columbus, OH) that provides the same service. I found a barber shop in the Yellow Pages called "The Mug and Brush". Sounded perfect. I called to find out what there hours were and mentioned coming in for a haircut and shave. I almost said shave and...

    Screen Names...

Kent Allard was a WWI flying ace who later made the choice to fight evil in the guise of "The Shadow". I've been listening to "The Shadow" radio program for years and then started reading the pulps. Lamont Cranson was too obvious but Kent Allard was just obscure enough that only true Shadow...

    Usher

Ray Bradbury did a great short story about this called "The Anthem Sprinters" about people who tried to get out of the theatre before the Anthem started. Check it out if you get a chance.

    Road Trip - Route 40

In three weeks I'm going to be taking a road trip from Columbus, OH out state route 40 to New Jersey. While there I'm going to be visiting the War of the Worlds memorial plaque in Grovers Mill and the statue of Lou Costello in Patterson. Does anybody have suggestions of other tributes to the...

Video games based in the golden era

Destroy All Humans is set in the 50's. You play an alien conquering Earth and stealing human brains. There is a fun section that takes place at a drive-in showing "Plan 9 From Outer Space".

    Batman Begins

I think the roll that called Bateman to the attention of a lot of the hardcore fanboys (myself included) as a possible Batman was "Equilibrium". He played the action scenes well while also managing to show the human side of the character.

    Don't touch that dial!

http://testbox.cob.rit.edu/ It's a website called "The Cobalt Club". Once you are a member they have a forum for swapping MP3's of classic radio that is no longer under copywrite protection.

    Don't touch that dial!

You just named one of my two favorite radio shows ever. I have a complete collection of the series on MP3 and play them while I'm working around the house. They adapt Heinlein, Bester, Bradbury and a bunch of other classic stories as well as some originals.

    WHY OH WHY?

Well, I can answer a few I can answer two of these: 2. Because we wouldn't want them to go to hell and be sick. (Thank you to George Carlin for that answer) 5. The same reason they immediately touch the plate that their waitress has been telling them is extrememly hot.
