The ONE Celebrity (Living or Dead) You'd Give a Body Part to Have Dinner With?

I'll offer a kidney - they're paired organs - to have dinner with T.E. Lawrence. I'm sure I could listen to him for hours. Across the table... Dame Diana Rigg. What a truly classy lady!

    Who likes vintage tools?

While a fairly new Craftsman is OK, I passed it on to my son-in-law in favor of my father's good old one - like yours. I used it growing up and it has an emotional attachment. It's solid, smooth, and "gives me joy".

    Loungers' Pets

Using the broadest definition of pet... raised from eggs and now being released - Cope's Gray Tree Frogs. This is the second batch set free. I'm so proud of my almost 3 y.o. - she's making memories for both of us.

    The "Annoying Phrase" Thread

SUV-guy also takes the railroad tracks at 1 MPH. How much did they pay for super off-road suspension?

    Who likes vintage tools?

Here's one of my retirement restoration projects. A hand crank American Scroll Saw from Delta in the rough. About 1921 vintage. Not too hard, as I've cheated and started cleaning and lubricating. One accepted modification is to add a belt and motor. If I can find one, I might actually use it.

    Collecting Used and Rare Books

Sorry, I can't help. But I appreciated the link. I've never owned a rare book, but I've bought my share of old books thinking they should be rare. I guess mildew and dust doesn't establish provenance. Looks like I'll be refining my tastes. Thanks!

    Out Your Back Door

Is this what a bluebird fledgling looks like? The head is sort of blue.

If you could choose, what city would you like to see crushed by a giant monster?

It can come up the Hudson River, turn left and stomp away. Bye, bye, Newark!

Old smells, that immeditately transport you back in time?

Formaldehyde... dissecting the dogfish in high school biology. Gin... propped between the storm door and the front door by fraternity brothers before they rang the bell at my parents house. 7 Mile Fair south of Milwaukee... reminded me of one bad night in Tijuana.

    Gone fishing...

Took the little one fishing for the first time last weekend for my birthday. She caught all the worms the night before. Three adults and lures... she (2 1/2) caught both fish.

    Vintage SCUBA Diving anyone?

I grew up in the dbl. hose era on the Middle Coast. In this thread #12 I have a picture of the USD DA I keep up to spec. My go-to single is the then top-of-the-line ScubaPro Air I w/ a Poseidon Cyclon 100 octopus. As for twin 80's, now, that would be hernia time. For fun, I have a batch of...

    Vintage Riding & Equestrian Apparel

Maybe not apparel; more of an accessory. I just sold this pair of vintage Crockett Renalde spurs (1950's) to a collector on EBay for some nice money. There's a considerable market for spurs with more depth than I had the time or inclination to research. I usually research the items I sell so...

    Out Your Back Door

I had some scrap from a fence I tore down, aged cedar. I used some to make a couple of blue bird boxes and got them up about two weeks ago. SUCCESS!! I attracted a pair... this is from this morning. Mom on the fly...

    BATTER UP!

This one's for Harp... some shots of your idol, Ernie Banks. I was about 10 yo when Banks visited the Lawndale Chicago Boys Club. The back of my head is in the bottom of the picture of Banks showing his swing. What a guy. No scandals that I've ever heard of. He was a role model for us kids.

how far does a person need to travel to be considered a "Tourist" ?

Florence, KY doesn't get much more Northern Southern than this. The Mason-Dixon line, a.k.a. the Ohio River, is 5 miles up the 'I'.

The End of the Collector Mindset

Hey! I grew up near 31st and Pulaski. All my Czech friends houses (and mine) were like that. Kids couldn't play in the living room. Couch and chairs had plastic slip covers and the tall lamp on the table in the middle of the picture window had plastic covering the shade. Still not as bad as...

What do you still have in your possession from your childhood?

Clifford Pope was one of the founding fathers of the field of herpetology. As a 10 year old, I bought this new for $4.50 and practically wore it out reading and re-reading stories of his snake collecting experiences. Hence, my forum name and my post in Forum Families. As Marie Kondo would...
