    Miller/Biltmore "Open Door" review.

Very nice! Thanks for the review and the pictures. Be sure to post pictures of the crease you finally decide on. How is oval on this one? Is it a very round oval or could it be easily "long-ovalized"?

SOLD! FS: 7 1/2 Long Oval Beaver Brand Stratoliner Clone

SOLD! This is a nice hat that has been replaced in my collection by a VS Strat clone. It is a light grey, 7 1/2 long oval Beaver Brand. It fits like a 7 1/2 LO, the felt is very smooth, the sweat is real leather. It has a 2 1/2 inch brim. It still has its box, though the box was a bit...

vintage hat sizes vs. modern hat sizes

I too have noticed that vintage hats fit a bit more "snug". I think that men back then wore their hats a bit higher on their heads than they do today--when they wear hats. Some brands ran consistently bigger, too. A vintage Knox always fits tighter than a vintage Stetson. The vintage...

Not vintage, but I got a really good deal on a pair of Mephistos which look a lot like the crepe-soled casual shoes in 1940s catalogs: The leather is corrected-grain, but very high-quality, as are all the finishing details. Nice, made-in-France shoes!

What Hat Are You Wearing Today 1?

Messing around with my Campdraft, I started out with a fedora crease and then changed to a cattleman's crease just for fun: Open crown hats a fun to expirement with. If people on the street start looking at you funny, you can just pull the hat off and re-crease it. Though it may not...

Art Fawcett VS Hall of Fame

Sorry, the week-end started off with a bang; I got kind of busy! I measured the crown as best I could, and I got 5 3/4", but I could be wrong. Here's a quick picture with the hat creased: It sure does fit nice! I like the wider brim, too.

Art Fawcett VS Hall of Fame

I only had a few minutes to fondle...er, examine the hat before heading off to work, so I'm not sure about the crown height; I'll measure it tonight. The color is very neutral; a beautiful shade of grey. I'm sure it will go well with just about any color clothes.

Art Fawcett VS Hall of Fame

A new dove-grey thin-ribbon from Art arrived today: It has a 2 5/8" brim; I was a bit hesitant to go so wide, but Art assured me that I'd look O.K. in it, and I think he's right. I'll post pictures of me wearing it as soon as I can. Thanks Art!

FS: Art Fawcett 1930s style fedora

Sold! It is a nice hat, but I've discovered that I really like thin-ribbons, and my wide-ribbons just aren't getting worn.

FS: Art Fawcett 1930s style fedora

SOLD! More closet-cleaning for me. This is a very nice VS fedora with a 2 1/4" brim and tall crown in Art's steel color. I wear a 7 1/2 long oval and this hat fits, though it is just a hair snug (I like my hats to ride a bit higher) so others may consider this to be more of a generous 7...
