Exactly. No surprises here. Akubra is primarily driven by the outback, western and country hat sales. The only partial surprise to many should be the number of outright western hats they sell, because here in the US they are known so much for the country and outback hats. But in Australia...
I believe Tom hit the nail on the head. As far as I know the Stetson family still own the Stetson company. They in turn license out manufacturing, distributing, etc out to other companies for all of the things with the Stetson name. If I recall correctly Stetson ceased production of their own...
The Mike Moore gray hat from page 1 is a 7 1/4. The Huckel hat on page 2 says it is a 7 1/4. However, I wear a 7 1/8 and it is too big for my head and fits about the same as the Mike Moore hat. $90 for both, plus shipping. I was asking $90 just for the Mike Moore, but I need to clear out...
Some have done so. I have never had much success when I tried to do it. eventually I decided I don't mind them so much as they just add to the personality of the hat. As long as the hat isn't just eaten up with them.
Rest in Peace CJ. A true gentleman.
Like Daniel Jones I had thought about just a recently as a couple of weeks ago and searched for his last posts wondering how if he was coming along. It did seem he was on a road to recovery. Sorry to hear it came back.
I think it was more than just Hollywood who usually took their hats on and off by the crown. This was the way several of the first creases developed. Naturally because of the way they were handled. Is that a good way to handle your hats, no definitely not the best. However most men of any...
I have a Stetson Shantung that has lasted several years of not so intense wear. It didn't cost a ton as I bought it from a hat dealer who was going out of business. I don't find them to be of great quality. They don't breathe very well and they are nice looking for a shorter period of time...
I will never again buy a wool hat, other than something like a British driver cap or similar. Everyone of them I have ever owned has shrunk, deformed severely in rain and snow and otherwise been crap. They are also hotter in warm weather and colder in cold weather than fur felt. I have...
Wool shrinks. Period. I have yet to own a wool hat that did not shrink when it got really wet. This includes western types, wool ball caps and fedora type hats. I like my wool ball caps, but it drives me nuts when they shrink. You might can place a hat stretcher in the hat when it gets wet...
Nice work guys. THIS is why the Fed exists in the first place. HD and Akubra have always been gracious enough to try and respond positively anytime they feel like they can do so.Try your best and build a consensus of what features people can agree upon and go from there. Tom good work again...
You got those pants at a tremendous price and at that price they are certainly worth the money. They are well made and durable, no doubt. And they will do well in Africa and most anyplace else of comparable climate.
Yeah, not all colors look good on all people. Personally I like the tan silverbelly and the silver silverbelly. Resistol silverbelly is pretty silver in tone. Stetson and Akubra are not. This is nothing new either. These brands have made silverbelly for a long long time with the same tones...
It depends entirely on the manufacturer. In general the modern Stetson as well as Akubra and several others have a silverselly that is quite tan in color, which a hint of silver. I have and old Adam which is in silverbelly and it is quite silver in color. For Akubra the gray is very gray and...
