Part of my job involves checking a pump station at a lake. Every year I enjoy watching the geese teach their babies to swim. Mom in the front, dad in the back, babies in a line in between. If there is a baby who hesitates too long in jumping off the edge of the bank they get a beak in the behind...
We have watched the first episode. I agree, it will take a bit to sort out all of the plots and subplots. We intend to stay with it and see how it develops.
As much as I'd love to see her saved I don't see it happening for all of the reasons given above. Plus the fact that if you did a man on the street survey only a small number could even tell you that they had heard of the ship.
When people don't know or care about the local history, whether it...
People who engage in these types of behavior need to be beaten with a stick. I've heard similar stories about Walmart and others. It is simply theft, nothing less.
I've seen enough things stashed in sheds, garages, attics and old warehouses to be convinced that if a thorough inventory of them all could be done many things that are currently considered rare would no longer be.
Our childhoods and family history for over 40 years was captured by my grandfather on slides. I loved to get out the projector and screen and look at them. People who were then old or already passed showed up as young. Trips and every day activities were interesting. When he died my grandmother...
I personally do not own much from them. A shirt or two I believe. My wife has a few things, including a winter coat which she likes very much. I lost a lot of my interest in paying premium money for their products quite a few years ago when thumbing through the catalog showed mostly imported...
Very nice. I wonder what transportation would set you back from there to here?
Like Robert, I fear I lack the time and patience for that at this point.
There was a truck drawn bus at the Illinois State Fair in the early-mid 70's that I remember seeing. It looked like a Greyhound bus of the period without a driver's station. Only one I've ever seen in person.
I can't help, but I would ask the question in the Front Parlor forum above. I think it will likely be seen by more people who can steer you in the right direction. One or more of the ladies might take pity on a gentleman who wants to do a nice thing for his girl.
BTW, good on you for doing this .
My wife works for a "social service agency" that operates a large clothing center. They get huge quantities of donated clothing, a fair amount of which is unwearable for different reasons. There are companies that have industrialized the rag man's business to the point of picking up clothing in...
I have never understood why people who know they have differing opinions don't either agree to not discuss certain things or simply stay away from each other. I have friends that I know their beliefs differ from mine in some way, but we do not browbeat each other about it. Sleeping dogs are best...
