Vintage Things That Have Disappeared In Your Lifetime?

We have bike lanes on major residential through streets. They were a gift from a public works director who was fired shortly after. I don't have an issue with the idea, my problem is with the execution. Anyway, you have to watch the pedalers like a hawk because since they have their own lane on...

What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

Every generation has its buzzwords. It just seems like nowadays for many managers/executives there is no thought process behind them. The litany of buzzwords are a shabby facade hiding a hollow shell.

    Old gas stations

Early '60s Chrysler is my guess. 300 maybe?

So trivial, yet it really ticks you off.

Pffft. Here the trend seems to be to signal after you have already begun the turn. I suppose I should be satisfied that they signalled at all.

    Show us your vintage home!

^^^ Very nice. I am at present attempting to persuade my wife to consider papering a couple of rooms. I have access to some very nice NOS rolls of paper. She is resisting.

Vintage Things That Have Disappeared In Your Lifetime?

I'm somewhat familiar with Nestles water deal. As much as it disgusts me the agency didn't really have any option but to approve the permit. They don't have the power to say no and the likelihood of the legislature giving them that ability runs between slim and none.

Vintage Things That Have Disappeared In Your Lifetime?

Not a fan of Necco wafers bt my sister ate my share when we were kids. Clark bars and Zagnuts were my favorites to get from Harry and Mike at the Shell station in town. If there is any justice in the afterlife Nestle has it's own circle of hell.

So trivial, yet it really ticks you off.

Aside from the generated drama on those shows I struggle to believe that the majority of those kids that are supposedly buying for their own residence can handle what they claim is within their "budget". Other young people see that and expectations are foolishly raised. Their houses own them...

    Cast iron

Modern Lodge iron is not finished in the same way the old pans were. I'd guess it comes down to cost. They use their factory seasoning coating to make the pan ready to use out of the box. I wouldn't grind on it. Scrub it in hot water and dish soap with a stainless pad until it is as clean as you...

So trivial, yet it really ticks you off.

As long as the steer wasn't a heavy drinker liver well prepared is greatly underrated as cuisine. Grill those onions and bring it with a side of breaded tomatoes.

    Old gas stations

Interesting. Apartment house or hotel maybe? Looks like a longwire antenna on the roof. I have got to get something with a bigger screen.

    Cast iron

I bought this at an auction a while back for $1.00 and finally got around to cleaning it up. It was a solid mass of rust so nobody wanted it. A trip through the electrolysis tank and a couple seasning passes in the oven has made it our favorite daily use skillet. It is a Wagner.
