It looks like the fluffy fleece that I had on my old Aviation Leathercraft Irvin a long time ago - that packed down beautifully and looked great in time.
Give it time and wear ....
And you're a very good son! :) Bless you.
My congratulations, Sir !!! I hope it all goes well on the day (and you're not wearing your A2!)
And yes well, of course. Priorities !
A wife trumps a D-1 ... this time. ;-)
I know .... I know .....
Thank God I'm committed to the B-6 I just bought and that's just arrived at ELC for alteration. A bill dropped through the door on Monday and I know that, if it had happened any earlier in the year, I'd most likely have been sensible and decided against the B-6 and...
Thanks for the speedy reply ... and I'm only sorry it's not a 42!
Good luck with the sale. Mind, I don't think you'll have much trouble moving it ....! ;-)
That Ju-52 stands out to me! One flew right over our house last summer - must've been on the way to Hamilton Air Museum. What a great sound ! I'd never seen one before...
I was at the Canadian Aviation and Space Museum in Ottawa at the weekend - it was my first time in there and there's some...
Man... Don't you just hate it when that happens?! You have my sympathies, Sir.
It's like a universal constant. Money's hard to save these days - but nonetheless, by being frugal, I finally do get there and I can allow myself to get excited as, finally, all the obligations are met and the object...
Yup! It came back in early February - so it put in over two months of daily service before being returned to the closet ...
And it made great time en route too. It took just 4 days (Not Royal Mail, obviously!).
Exactly. A Commando comic book - it even had the villain with the scar on his cheek (not cliched at all) - so we all knew who the baddie was supposed to be when we saw him. And him saying "Die you stupid African" ... OMG. I could feel my bowels move.
Indeed it could have been better - the only...
DOH ! I just checked the AL website - and they DO make a D-1!!! That'll teach me to pay more attention to their website ...!
All the more reason to make a trip up there for a recce now ...! Choices, choices .... :)
Thank you everyone! :)
As the last photo shows, the collar (being evenly reinforced somewhat) no longer has the casual half-up, half-down look that it used to have and I loved - but I reckon that'll come back in time as the leather softens ... But after this, I really don't mind. I'm just glad...
Hi bn1966,
I think a D-1 is a very sensible choice for the temperate UK climate. I know I found my similar-weight ELC B-6 to be very practical and am looking forward to its replacement arriving in time for the cool Fall days over here ...
Having only the B-6 to go by, I can't speak for a D-1...
I'm not afraid to say that I really enjoyed that film ....! Sure, it plays fast and loose with history - but, like Memphis Belle, I found it to be very entertaining, easy on the eye and rather exciting.
It's so funny how we can all see the same thing so differently .... :)
So having mentioned this in the current thread on AL, I am finally spurred on to putting this together (don't tell the boss - should be working!) before someone says "Pics - or it didn't happen!". Oh, did it ever!
So it was the first week of winter last - and I reached for my trusty and...
Hello Hpalapdog,
As I shall relate in full when I get to composing the thread, the first thing I did was to call Gary at ELC. I sent photos of the horrendous tear - and I said that what I really wanted, rather than simply sewing the tear up and patching it, was to have the straps and buckles...
I stand corrected (as the man said in orthopaedic shoes). It was all downhill after The Empire Strikes Back. That was one mean sequel, you're quite right.
