My advice would be don't over-modify just because you can and Aero do it for nothing, especially on your first jacket. Maybe one or two inside pockets and possibly a hem strip. Measure the lengths of jackets you have, compare that to the standard Aero lengths and don't vary back length by more...
Like Graemsay said, it doesn't need to be FQHH if you're worried about stiffness. No matter what Aero make it from, it'll be far superior to Belstafff.
Despite all the butch-sounding blurb from Belstaff about how tough the Panther is, it reminds me of the scene in Crocodile Dundee where a...
I had 4 Belstaffs including the Panther and can safely say there's no comparison with Aero quality. The Panther is like tissue paper in comparison and is really just a badge to impress label snobs with.
Admittedly, Belstaffs look nice if you're slim, but I was always worried about puncturing...
Given the recent debate over Aero pricing and free modifications, it's interesting to see the high German price and also the fact that they charge extra for all these mods. I wonder if Aero charge retailers for mods or if the poor German buyer just gets a raw deal?
If you've been measured by Aero (Will?), then I would take whatever sleeve length they give you. I certainly wouldn't add 2 inches to that. As for the length of the coat, presumably you discussed that at the fitting and the measurements reflect that.
One thing I'd say, when I went for my...
I've had several pairs of DMs over the years and am now down to 2, which will be my last.
The vintage 10-holers normally go for around twice the price, like £150 to £70, with standard resoling costing a whopping £60, so my vintage ones from amazon for about £75 looked a great deal. Anyway...
You're right, Edward. For the sake of £50, you could save it and pay for the trip up there to deliver it yourself and then fondle all the lovely leather jackets.
Unfortunately Aero's opening hours aren't user friendly if you have a job, although I could on certain Friday mornings. I'm expecting a Stockman in September, so if completion coincides with a Friday morning I could kill two birds with one stone. I thought half belts were shorter than the HWM...
Borisna, FWIW, when Will at Aero measured me for my HWM, he recommended that it should lie just above the back pockets, exactly where yours sits. Mine looks the same as yours and is 25.5.
Hi Flashy. Hope you like the bag. I'm in Barnton, and am in Leith quite often. Been here 4 years and love it - like being on holiday all the time. Hopefully you feel the same about Australia.
I ordered one late last year, expecting 4 weeks delivery as said on the site. After 2 months, no sign and slow email contact giving excuses. I eventually got an email to say it had arrived in the UK but that they'd sent the wrong one and could I have it sent back, please. I gave up and...
True, Butte. My Aero traded in at just over 50%, but after fees on ebay I ended up at about 35% for that Belstaff and about 40% for another. Both Belstaffs were the most desirable as well. The fact that Belstaffs are 50% dearer than Aeros anyway just makes the pain that bit worse.
I hear you, Johannes. It was easier to trade back to Aero than have all the hassle of ebay and the 15% or so fees. Better to spend an extra £300 and be happy than have nagging doubts.
I made the same mistake with a £900 Belstaff, selling for less than half price on ebay after only a few...
As Butte alluded to elsewhere, the danger with your first Aero is that you over-modify it. As Lungomare says, it would be best to find the standard dimensions of any jacket, then check height and chest size of any wearers to suss out the best dimensions for you.
I've already fallen into that...
To me the concerns of SuinBruin, Jeff and others are entirely well-founded if Aero were simply a retail outlet selling off-the-rack.
The reality is that, as the manufacturer, they accommodate countless requests for non-standard modifications and have chosen to adopt a flat-rate pricing...
Thinking this through, Aero seem to have adopted (by accident or design) a simplistic one-size-fits-all pricing structure which undoubtedly benefits those who like mods and insist on rework, particularly if they live overseas, to the disadvantage of those who fit off the rack and don't bother...
Possible scenario - current price of a jacket to the USA -£630. New price to include nominal uplift for general VAT deduction - £660, less £110 VAT = £550, now excluding delivery. Add say £40 delivery, £20 arm/hem length adjustment, £20 each for two G1 pockets, £10 for a corduroy hem strip and...
Without knowing Aero's specific accounting practices, I am sure that the one fact is that any UK sales will include 20% VAT, which will be passed on to the government. Sales to other EU countries may or may not have VAT-equivalent deductions depending on any arrangement with the purchaser, but...
Given the strength of feeling from the US members, I can't help but think that the only outcome from this will be increased prices, VAT deductions for overseas customers, hefty overseas carriage charges, no free returns, new charges for modifications and also price increases for the larger...
