I can't believe this day has finally arrived. I ordered the jacket on March 18 and received the jacket yesterday, June 8... just a few days less than 12 weeks.
This is my first horsehide leather jacket... I love the scent of the jacket and I especially love the rigidity of the jacket. I...
Nice jacket, Griff! As of right now I'm officially a member of the Aero leather jacket owners club, so I'll be posting pics of my new jacket hopefully later today. :)
Hey Tony,
I just found out that the bi-swing back was intentionally left off... reason why is the bi-swing isn't possible on the NYPD jacket because of the epaulettes... with a bi-swing back the epaulettes could not have gone on.
ONE MORE DAY... the jacket finally arrives tomorrow...
Thanks Tony! Actually I found out that the shoulder bi-swing isn't really all that functional versus having a full bi-swing that goes from the top of the shoulders to the bottom of the coat... the full bi-swing would give you more flexibility for movement versus a shoulder bi-swing.
I agree...
I'll be definitely prepared come next tuesday when my jacket arrives in my hands... it's currently at Aeroleather USA's location in the U.S. and from what I was told it looks great and was made by Moira at Aeroleather. :)
I'm sure the wait, even though it's only until next tuesday the 8th...
Well, my jacket arrived at Aeroleather USA today... from what I told it looks absolutely great and should arrive in my hands next tuesday. :)
The only thing that appears to have been missed unfortunately is that they forgot to make my jacket with the bi-swing back even though that was...
Ahh... my bad for not realizing you were referring to pull shape and not brand.
I can see why you like that style... that looks pretty cool. :)
On a separate note... hey Ukali... I missed seeing the picture of you wearing your jacket a few posts up... man, you even have your beard...
Beautiful jacket, Ukali! I'm glad you got the jacket back in your hands now, my friend... enjoy it! I should hopefully be getting a package from Aeroleather this week containing a certain customized leather jacket I ordered... I can't wait!! ;)
Do you have pictures of these Lozenge pulls...
Great info! Yes, I'm very familiar with Taylors... definitely a reputable place. You are correct in what you said about Aero's jacket being a combination of various designs... I remember reading on Aero's site that they try and take the best aspects of all the designs for their particular...
Haha!! Most definitely, my friend. I'm just so beyond happy right now... I feel like giving my 2 little girls a huge hug now even though I can't since I'm at work and they're at kindergarten and daycare. :D
MY JACKET IS DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OMG... just got news today that my jacket is done and should arrive in my hands next week!!!! I was told 12 week wait and actually it will wind up getting to me around that time.
I'll post up a new thread with plenty of pics when it arrives.
I'm so...
That is an EXCELLENT point I never considered... I too carry a heavy briefcase with a strap so the stitched down epaulets will definitely save wear but at the same time provide some added cushioning on my shoulder which does get a bit sore at times after carrying my briefcase for an extended...
After seeing that picture I definitely prefer the brass hardware... it makes the jacket stand out nicely, plus the nickel plated hardware does not match the main zipper in the picture which is brass.
My vote is to keep the jacket with the brass buttons... makes the jacket more unique. :)
Thanks Tony! I appreciate your consideration in not pushing for more details about my jacket but I will say that I am definitely getting the bi-swing back so you'll be able to see how that looks with this jacket. :)
Great to meet you, Tony... and thanks for the kind words. Tell your father that I thank him for serving as an officer of the law (I make it a point to thank every officer or former officer that I come in contact with... it's the least that I can do). :)
I would have followed my...
I wouldn't worry about anyone mistaking you for an imperial authority simply because of the buttons. It would be more problematic if you were to sew on police patches on the shoulder or actually display a badge in the grommet area on the chest.
Actually if you look on other police jackets...
