Thanks all- This is made out of horsehide, mid-weight. I tried to make the pocket more like the originals in the pics, but combined several features from different jackets that I thought looked good. At some point I will make a straight front half belt, wanted to work on this a little more...
Hello
I've been quiet most of the summer, but thought I would post a few pics of the latest half belt I made. It's an aviator style with a re-designed "D" pocket and tweaked pattern. Please see more pics at superiorjackets.com

Wow- neat back, bit of an odd design though. Note how the back is one piece with no side panels- the halfbelt is just a square of leather that is sewn on in the middle of the panel- not structural like it is on most half belts. Unless there is a seam hidden under the side tabs?

Thanks- I really like this design, practical and unique. I have not had occasion to make anything smaller than a 42 yet- my test jackets are mostly 46's and all my requests have been for larger jackets.

Here is another take on the 30's aviator jacket. Made out of seal goatskin with no windflap and a scalloped yoke and pocket flaps. Collar is pointier too. Wool plaid body lining, vintage Talon zip, wool knits, etc. It's a 46 long so it's a bit big on me.

For sale is an A-1 test jacket size 46. Made from natural finish (no topcoat) sheepskin with a 100% cotton liner, horn buttons, and wool knits. The thread is 4-ply glazed cotton. The jacket features a 2 piece back, three piece arms (with triple stiched seams), pockets on the waistline, and...
Horsehide 30's flight jacket, I've been wearing this one a bit so I lowered the price to $450.

this will fit you if you are 5'8" to 6'1" and have a 44" or smaller chest.
Shoulder 19.5
Sleeve 26.5
Front Length 24
Pit to pit 24.5
If you look at the pics of the original jacket on my blog, you can see that BOTH the button pockets were oiginally tiny- I made one about A-2 pocket size so it would be functional- plus I like the way it offsets the other pocket.
Why they would both be so tiny I have no clue, not every idea...
Probably a watch or some sort of tobacco- maybe one of those complementary mini-packs of Camels they used to give out on the airlines...
Good for a cell phone nowadays :)

This is a design I made with the help and research of a forum member. It's based on a jacket actor George Brent wore in a couple of his movies in the late 30's.
The jacket is a varation on the classic 1930's flight jacket/A-1 with a leather collar, small button pockets, collar tab, windflap...
