I changed the crease on my navy Black Creek hat. The crown is a little lower than I’d like but it’s still good for me. Now all I need to do is some brushing and it will be ready for the head time.

Yesterday evening I watched The Scene of the Crime staring Van Johnson. It is a good film noir movie that has the feel of a more modern police TV show. Lieutenant Mike Conovan, head of the homicide detective squad, when his former and a member of his squad is murdered while off-duty and carrying...
Today was a pleasant day with the highs in the upper 50’s. I wore my Silver Canyon outback that I converted about a week ago. It was a a 3 inch under welt brim with a teardrop crease. It now sports a 2 3/8” brim and a diamond crease.
Steven
Terry yet again your work is amazing. The conversion looks excellent. How did you get rid of the moth eaten areas? I can’t see a trace that they were ever there in your after pictures.
Steven
I already did the conversion. I posted the conversion in the Conversion Corral: https://www.thefedoralounge.com/threads/the-conversion-corral.22306/page-250#post-2510864
Here are some pictures.
Soft and floppy are not an issue as I added stiffener while I was steaming the felt. As far as the...
I was kicking around ideas on a gray felt hat. I had been looking for something that could be a year round felt but I was reluctant to purchase a high end hat sight unseen. I decided to purchase a gray Silver Canyon outback style hat. It has a 3 inch brim which is larger than the 2 1/2” brims I...
I received my gray Silver Canyon outback style hat this afternoon. The color is a rich gray and I absolutely love it. The hand of the felt is very nice and lightweight. I’ve decided to change the crease to a diamond from it’s factory teardrop crease. I have plenty of crown height to work with...
Welcome and as Brent stated there’s a lot of information here in the Fedora Lounge. As you search older posts looking for answers you’ll probably notice that a lot of old picture links no longer work so I usually start at the newest post and work backwards through the pages. I hope this helps...

I live in South Carolina so it gets hot and very humid. I have good straw hats in a verity of colors. Grey, natural, pecan, navy and tea are the colors. The three Bear Creek fedoras I have are very light but I’d like to have a finer felt fedora compared to my wool felt fedoras. Something like...
Thanks jlee. I love the look of the Stetson Playboy and if I’m not mistaken it even has vent holes in the crown. Being a 7-1/2 makes it a little tougher finding a vintage hat to fit me and my needs. Maybe custom might be the way to go. I’d like to hear other options as to what Fedora Loungers...
I’ve searched around but I have not been able to find an answer for summer felt hats. I know looking at old pictures I think for the most part felt fedoras were worn year round. Is there different weight felts for summer? I have a decent collection of straw hats but I’d like a nice year round...
This afternoon I watched The Blue Gardenia. From a broken engagement to a blind date that leads to murder the story keeps your attention. Ann Baxter give a stellar performance as the woman that can’t remember the actual murder. Raymond Burr does a great job in a creepy way as an artist and...
Bcraig welcome to the Fedora Lounge. As others have mentioned using the google search is a great way to find information on this site. There are a lot of great threads with pictures and information. I recommend looking at this thread...
I watched Christmas Getaway on the Halmark Channel last night. It was a great romantic comedy. Good story and the acting was very natural. Bridget Reagan and Travis Van Winkle had very good on screen chemistry. The story revolves around a widowed father and his daughter getting double booked in...
I just learned something new. I thought that Bogarts image was from the scene where he took Elijah Cook Jr.’s guns in the hallway with the ole “pull the overcoat down over the henchmen’s arms trick”. :)
