You might also find it interesting to compare the fit on the seller and on me. She was 5ft8 and 42 chest/36 waist. I am same height but 38 chest/34 waist. hmmm...the coat looks like one of those flimsy polycotton monstrosities that currently disgrace the great tradition of the trench coat. I've had originals off ebay for a pittance - these were WW2 and 1950s ones. I have also had originals from the 60s and 70s made to basically the same pattern but the chambray is not as good. I've heard it said - and it may be pure folklore - that sleeve buttons were originally introduced on midshipmens' jackets in the Royal Navy to stop them wiping their noses on their sleeves!
