If you're swithering between DM/Solovair and Lennon, there really is no comparison. As anyone who knows would say, Lennon are a big step up, for not much more money. I've had lots of DMs and only two Lennons, and would never go back. Lennon are solid with a capital S, and just don't have...
This is an updated repost as the original had a misleading title I couldn't change. I've also reduced the price.
£40 to the UK, inc. p&p, or $70 to the US inc p&p, paid as gift through Paypal.
Anyway, worn once and washed once, these were simply too small for me. The tagged size is 33...
I've had a few DMs in my time, including "Vintage", but the soles always wore out quickly. The last time I checked it was £60 to resole, but I felt that this was too much in relation to the value of the upper and the relatively fast-wearing soles.
I chose Lennon's for my kick around boots and...
So you like the Islay whiskies, Fanch. I used to live on the mainland opposite Islay and would see it each week as I drove to work. It's nice to hear your positive vibes from so far away. Two sheep on the road there is considered a traffic jam.
Our local distillery was Springbank, which has...
I'm away from home, so am trusting my wife, but the measurements are all coming up smaller than Gustin fit guide.
Thigh 24; knee 16; hem 16; leg 33.5; waist 32.5
They've been washed once, so might have shrunk a little, but I'd have to say they're more of a 31 or 32 now.
Gustin are...
mendelboaz, pavineguy, the Jobmasters make Doc Martens look like little girls' boots.:)
As for the customs, I'm definitely going burgundy, and am leaning towards the Harness in a double sole as I like the toe. I might lose the rings, but then they might look too cowboy-ish. I love the feel of...
Great boots, mendelboaz. I showed the same ones in the Accoutrements board, on the Wesco thread. They're rock solid and usually get some looks on the street, but I stuck with the yellow laces for maximum impact.
I'm about to pull the trigger on a custom pair of Wesco Boss or Harness, but...
I stupidly bought these a size too small and they've only been worn once. The title is wrong and I'm asking the mods to change it. The waist actually measures a smidge under 16.5" when flat and not stretched, with a 34 leg. So probably more of a comfy 32 or neat 33.
£50 inc. p&p to the UK...
Ask and ye shall receive...:)
Here's my battered brown HH Shackleton today. As it's a vest/waistcoat, it doesn't get the same amount of damage that a jacket would, so it stays new looking longer than jackets would. I wouldn't say it's noticeably lighter than regular FQHH, marginal at best...
I know. My first order is about 790, made at the beginning of November. They said 6-8 weeks then, ie by Christmas, and now I'm guessing end of February.
No more from me until that's sorted out.
Freddie's had a bit of a buzz because they were cheap compared to others, but then Gustin came along and changed the game. Their star is waning a bit now so the buzz has shifted to Lawless, but there's still so little of their stuff out there that the jury is still out.
So, Fanch, the US still...
Fanch, I haven't looked at my Freddie's for over a year since I started getting my Gustins. I remember thinking that the 40s were maybe a bit too obvious, hence choosing the 50s. There's nothing wrong with them, but I just prefer the fabrics and colours of the Gustins.
As Sloan says, simonc...
I have the Freddie's 50s and liked the relatively high rise and wide cut, but when I got my Heavy Americans I never wore the Freddie's again. The HAs are much more substantial and need to be worn a lot to break them in, but if you like the different style of the Freddie's then they're a solid...
Looks very good on you Deacon. As for the law regarding jumpers and Irvins, I thought that and bought a roll neck for mine, only to realise that I had nowhere to put my phone and wallet for easy access. Now I use a work shirt with two pockets and a thin roll neck under that for more warmth.
