Great point. Join TFL, research, acquire, then leave TFL. Alcoholics don't need need to be hanging out at the local lounge and jacket addicts don't need to be hanging out at The Fedora Lounge. This place is the gateway drug of leather jackets.
A question out to those who know S&S: the version on their website right now is made of Blattwerk HH. Has this jacket been made in several versions, with different hides?
I like the look but traditional waxed cotton jackets don't work for me and I doubt this would. I have a very nice Barbour that fits perfectly and looks fantastic. Unfortunately, every time I wear the jacket, I end up sweating. The non-breathable nature of the wax just doesn't wok for me. I wish...
I don't have a Himel leather jacket, but have/have had GW Shinki in seal and dark seal. Of the two, I preferred the seal as the leather showed better variation and depth (simply due to it being lighter in color). The dark seal is quite nice though and many people find that is a more versatile...
Johnson Leathers can do it. That is who shortened my sleeves (on a Brooks Cafe Racer). Not cheap (maybe $150, if not a bit more?), but it isn't your average sleeve shortening job with the zippers. I also had the windflap removed. That was pretty expensive and if I were in the situation again, I...
Looks like a Brooks to me as well, although almost everyone I've seen has a windflap (and his doesn't). You should have no problem finding one on eBay.
So, up until this thread - you just thought that people put on their Himel or Good Wear leather jacket prior to crawling underneath their car to change the oil? C'mon.
This jacket must've been a standard make as I have the exact same version with the same lining. Love it and the buttons make it pretty unique in regards to most leather jackets. I agree about the heaviness and the tea core. Mine is aging nicely.
I've owned one of his jackets and agree with HD that the leather (while bulletproof) is pretty lifeless and dull. Regardless, if I liked his hides, I'd buy his jackets; I don't care one iota about his personality, his rantings, or what he thinks of me.
I agree. I have one in brown. Such an easy wear. Lightweight, almost a windbreaker, and not at all precious. A jacket I can throw on and not worry about messing it up.
