Hi
I'm with you up to here. I'm been making a bunch of belts for friends of mine at work and part of that involves punching holes for the Chicago screws that hold the leather round the buckle, and punching holes for the buckle tongue to go through. Making a hole a little larger is much harder...
Hi
You might check the second post of 2 on this thread to see you your Dad lives near a custom hatter, someone posted that the Cattleman had a low crown, if that doesn't look good on your dad, custom may be a way to go. There used to be quite a few hatters in the NYC and state...
Hi
If he's still in business, post back. Someone in this thread posted that he's not making hats anymore, bummer, I love the one he made for me. I haven't talked to him in years. I had dinner with him back before 2012 up in Seattle WA. Great guy.

Hi
I agree that felts and straws aren't much different in heat, but I haven't noticed a difference between a liner and no liner. I find NY's opinion that a cowboy hat is an affection, out of touch. Downtown NYC residents don't need a hat to keep in the shade, they got Skyscrapers. Cowboys...
Hi
Happy National Felt Hat Day, this is the OFFICIAL day to swap from wearing Straw hats to wearing Felt Hats. It's actually been cool enough to wear Felt here in Oklahoma.

Hi
Well, the OKC Stockyards has Shorty's Hat shop which sells the current Professional Rodeo taco hats in any color of felt and various straws. Their website doesn't show anything like what Yahoody, T Jones, and I wear. I have my doubts that they can make anything else. They have a good...
Hi
That's a beautiful area, but I haven't been there since 1994, took the Tiger Cubs hiking at Kinlock Shelter. We had a blast, but both of the self titled ambulance chaser's (Personal Injury Lawyer) kids hit their heads and I got to use my new first aide kit.
What a deal.
Hi
This may help you a little:

I'd love to know how he kept those so straight, but those were cut on the BRIM, not the crown. Different and more difficult shape.

Yeah, I'd give a toe to have a long dinner with Mel Brooks, it would be great to see his reaction to the whole cancel craze. We can't discuss Blazing Saddles at work anymore. Sigh. I saw both Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein at the theaters.
WRT genocidal dictators, I found that...
Hi
I drive I-44 between OKC and STL at least twice a year.

it's a REAL Fudge Factory and you can buy fudge there. I haven't, I have an extremely limited supply of couth, but I still won't do that.

Hi
I can't BELIEVE that I haven't seen this in the years I've been around here. I've been to NYC and DC Once, and I'm done. No sense unleashing a monster on NYC, just turn the power off for 4 days and poof, nobody living there. I vote for DC. Well over 10 years ago we had a discussion at...
Hi
!. Sean Connery because he IS James Bond.
2. Daniel Craig because he looks like killing anyone wouldn't at akk be upsetting.
3. Roger Moore because he looked like he had fun all day every day being a secret agent.
The others weren't BAD, just not as good.

Back when every guy wore a hat damn near all the time they were outside, burnt hats were possibly the norm.
Never wear a straw hat burning the leaves every fall. Not a personal experience, but I've see a few other things get toasted that weren't supposed to. That ALMOST included my...
Hi
My first 3 were tools, a Gus Sunbody with 4 inch brim that I let dry out and then sat on it (Crunch), a Montana Peak from Jaxonbilt that I wore to Scout stuff, and an Indiana Jones hat to wear around. The rest are really fashion.
I still have a couple of Sunbodys with at least 4 inch...
That's good to know. I"ve been considering a Straw campaign hat or trooper hat because they're relatively cheap and they come in 7 3/8 Long Oval.

Wow, I would have ASSUMED that the Indy Crowd already had the Indy hats that they wanted since there hasn't been a new Indy movie in a few years. I guess new ones are born every minute. I went to see Raiders of the Lost Ark at the theater in 1981 so it's been a while.
