    Free Shaving Cream

About a week now... I received my free sample about a week ago and have been using it ever since. First, this could hardly be considered a sample...it's more like 6 months supply! Much more than I expected. Way to overdeliver! I normally shave with Bigelow's shave cream (Proraso), and...

Anyone have a Bailey straw Panama hat?

Bailey Panama I have a Bailey panama and the above is true. It's a cheap weave, and you can get much better panama's from Bob. The only reason I bought it was that I got it for a steal. I was on vacation in Seattle, and stopped into Bernie Utz hat store. The Bailey panama caught my eye...

    afraid to fly?

In the words of Micky Jupp YOU'LL NEVER GET ME UP IN ONE OF THOSE By Mickey Jupp I'd rather work in the city in a pinstriped suit and bowler hat If you break my arm I'll join the union, you know how I feel about that Put me in a uniform if it comes to blows But you'll never get me up...

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

@#%$ Moths!! Looking at the photos, I thought they might be moth trails, but was hopin' for the best. Indeed, the damage is minimal so it doesn't really bug me. I gave the whole hat a good brushing and it looks 100% better. I'll post pics soon. I've bashed it w/a center dent for now, and...

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

Disney Arrived! So my Disney arrived today! Let me just say, there is good news, OK news, and bad news. Thankfully, the good outweighs the bad, at least it does for me. Good: The hat was probably never worn; was probably stored in the box for years. The 5 1/2 inch high crown has NEVER...

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

Disney 40 I just won this on ebay. From the looks of it, it may have a cav edge, and will probably need to be sent to Art or Optimo for a cleaning/recondition, but I finally won a Disney! Ebay item #350320426449 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350320426449

Derby I won this derby on the 'bay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220554318438&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT It's of an obvious more recent vintage, but I'm not really sure how old/new. It's a long oval, and I don't know when Stetson stopped making LOs. Anybody know...

    Acidic sweat

I think sweat can do some damage, but it's prob'ly less than you think. I think just wearing the hat regularly will remove the markings on the sweatband. I have seen numerous vintage lids with zero marking visible on the sweat. The pristine vintage hats you see on FL were seldom worn...

    Song ID?

Sing, Sing, Sing He was actually better known for his voice. Check out his record "Chet Baker Sings". He was famous in Jazz circles for his horn, but everyone knew his name after that record came out because he had a hit with his vocal version of "My Funny Valentine." Chet's life is...

    Song ID?

Chet Baker If you're talking about the song in the intro to TCMs "Sunny Side of Life" features that goes: “A heart full of joy and gladness / Will always banish sadness and strife,” that's Chet Baker singing "Look for the Silver Lining". Chet was a brilliant Jazz musician in his younger years...

    Stetson Whippet 7 1/4

Thanks! I tend to haunt a few local vintage clothing stores around town in the hopes of finding a hat for myself. Most often there's nothing in my size (7 1/2 LO) and what I do find is usually pretty beat up. But when I find something that's really nice, I like to make sure it ends up in a...

    Stetson Whippet 7 1/4

SOLD! The Whippet is sold for a measly $110 (including shipping) to a big fish in Florida. The shop even threw in a vintage stetson hatbox for FREE! It's an oval box with a cotton ribbon that ties across the top to prevent it from falling open. I've never seen one like it...

I was in a local vintage clothing store earlier today and noticed a mint condition Stetson Whippet, size 7 1/4 for sale. It's grey with a black hat ribbon, and grey brim binding. If any one is interested, PM me, and I'll be happy to pass along info, or even go get it and send it to you if...

    Hat etiquette for *today*

Hats = Coats = Outerwear I think of my hat the same as my overcoat/jacket/coat. When it's proper to remove my coat I remove my hat, too. When I walk into work, I leave my coat and hat on until I get to my desk when I take them both off and hang them up. At a store, they both stay on...
