Thanks for the info and the compliment, El Marro. That was my thought too, but I don't really see any evidence like an excess looseness in the lining to give me that clue. But if they are normally pretty close to size in comparison to a suit jacket then it must have shrunk.
Thanks,
Michael
Thanks Serge. Yes, the green ribbon really sets off the velour I think. The coat is one of the versions of the Schott pea coat. This one is not new, but I think the same model is still in their catalog.
Thanks,
Michael
Thanks BB. They did have some interesting styling points. The other patent in the shoe for the cushioned insole dates back to, I think it was, 1935.
Ha ha. It's a nice velour for sure. Your new derby is one nice unit. Oldie, but goodie.
Thanks Perry. Great Borsa you pulled out today.

How tightly are these ordinarily fitted? This one is a 46 and I normally wear between a 38 and 42, depending on the era and cut. Unless this...

Thanks Michael and Charlie. I agree the shoes were something of a find. Charlie - I thought they were probably earlier too, but there is a patent number on the cushioned arch support that dates to 1959.

It's a great hat. And yes, the fabric in the coat is some great stuff. Out of the '50s I suspect. But when I was out and about today the only thing that got honorable mention from a bystander was my shoes.

Great looking Adam, DH.
Everyone needs at least one Deerstalker, Red. And it happens I watched the 1959 version of the Hound of the Baskervilles last night.

I wish. And given my current bent, I wouldn't travel back to when the stuff I want was being made, but back to the mid to late '60s when you could find the Salvation Army full of the stuff for $1 or $2.
Thanks Charlie. I've found some decent hats recently, but that suit might be my single best...
Man, that is a great hat. That color is so rich it looks like it burns hundred dollar bills to light it's cigars.
Thanks Karl. I'm not quite sure the coat goes with the rest of the kit, but I just found it yesterday and wanted to see what it looked like.
Michael
Yes, I remember you posting it before. Maybe on the day I discovered mine at the vintage store. I really like the shape and size of this model.
Thanks,
Michael
The shape and brim curl are absolutely fabulous Daniele. Looks very good in the photos for not fitting.
That is a very cool look Red. I've been trying that sort of shape on a few hats after seeing variants of it in movies from the early 1930s.
Michael
Thanks Samuel.
And thanks again. Your Knox today really is premiere. Love the color combo.
Thanks Matt. Does Fifth Ave run by Hanover Square? I'm really liking this one in any case. It seems to fall onto the head just right.
Thanks all,
Michael

This is the first one I've found locally, after years of searching. I don't look much on the internet, because all that I found there were above my budget in any case. So it was an extraordinary stroke that the only one I've found fits me as well as this does. I believe that if two more...
Thanks for the info Patrick. My feeling was for the 1940s too, but I am not at all expert in dating suit styles. There are no labels in the suit, neither makers or union. I talked to the seller again today and he told me that they came from an estate and passed on some second hand...
