Here are a few shots from the auction.
Of course I'd love to get a pair like the ones William H. Macy (as Tick Tock McGlaughlin) was wearing in Seabiscuit as well.
They sort of look like Gatsby's but seem a tad too small for those. Maybe they're the teacups. What do you think...
I had just won a pair of Ray-Ban Rituals on e-bay. They look a lot like the ones Jeff Bridges had in Seabiscuit and though they would go well with my Open Road. Now I guess, all I will need is the natty overcoat.;)
Cheers!

I have a Stetson Sutley that is a nice contemporary hat. Very soft & velvety. Would I wear it in a downpour? No. But I have worn it in the snow and light rain and it held up quite well. In fact it does shed water to a degree fairly well. I think it would make a good all-round hat when you didn't...
Thanks Gang!
Sorry Tony, I had set my bidding max at my high end. I was away that morning and couldn't sit & monitor it.[huh]
You're prpbably right about it not needing a re-block Feltfan, but I'm quite sure it's due for a good cleaning. It's kind of hard to tell in the photos with the...
Ah, so you're the one that got that one. Good Job!:eusa_clap
I was looking at it but didn't bid, I wanted the one that was just after it on the listing for Whippets. Got it too. Congratulations!;)
Cheers!

It has potential. One can only wait and see. Could be a simple cleaning & reblock, or it could be more, it's ahrd to say. But for 20 skins you can't go wrong. Congratulations!
Cheers!

Well, it looks like I wone this one, A Stetson Whippet. Hard to tell the age though, and it will definately need a cleaning & reblocking along with the sweat band either being re-attached or replaced. It's hard to tell from the photos though. Also, I hedged my bets and hoped that his measurement...
There's a good possibility of that Tomasso. These were one off cars built to order, so the possibility of the magenta being an original color is good. This one comes out of the Clive Cussler collection and he prides himself on the historical accuracy of his collections. I've only seen a few...
Agreed, I wouldn't repair a unique gem like that either. Too much history and personal value built up in the wear & tear. But, how could you not resist the call to wear it when it still looks so good? The temptation must be great at times.
What we have seen, you have a great collection, pretty...
I didn't mean the leather was broken either, what they had done on my lid was cut the threads at the seam and add a bit of elastic for a stretch.
Now, you say there were no holes from sewing so I can only guess that the material is an original piece and may have been elastic at one time. But...
A 1937 Cord convertable. Why my father ever let this one go is a mystery that will boggle me forever.
A 1949 Buick Roadmaster, hardtop or convertable, but not this color, I've seen one in a sunset yellow that was to kill for.
And of course I would love to get my hands on my...
Looks very similar to my Grandfathers Elgin and I believe he got his in 1936 if I remember the birthday story correctly. Good looking watch. Wear it in good health.:eusa_clap
Cheers!
