Spw - buy a hatbrush. They're not that expensive, and you'll need a light one and a dark one if you're going to have a number of hats. While you're at it, pick up one of the orange sponges they sell pretty much everywhere they sell hat brushes. The sponges are great for getting out any spots on... -

Turn of the century curved straw brimmed hat.
It was a very popularly advertised style around the turn of the century. The radical styles being pushed back then would make many of the "golden agers" here cringe. See more of them here. 1906 -

Mine is a Nutria Quality, though that same style has been made in No. 1 and, probably, other qualities. It's also just a general style, sometimes called Columbia. JtL has an older Stetson in the same style - a No. 1, I think. I've always thought of them as western hats. -
