I have interest. I think you will like the rucksacks, I loved mine. I used it daily throughout high school as well as for various backpacking adventures in the state parks around here.

Three-Piece Suits?
Pardon me for resurrecting a deceased thread. Can someone tell me what suit lines up with what Indy is wearing at the beginning of Raiders? Is it the Barnett or the Princeton? It appears from the discussion above that the Princeton might by Henry, Sr.'s suit from Last...
Adventurers - a couple questions.
You all look the part. Do you fellows use vintage camping gear as well - canvas tents and the like? I love Golden Era outdoorsiness - lots of canvas and leather and no hideous nylon to be seen.
Any suggestions on what might make a good North Woods...
I love those S&S Knucks, but boy are they pricey. Probably they did it more for reliability than for cost, although I'll bet those S&S motors are just as nice as a modern Harley mill. I am not fond of the softtail frame if that's what they did (you must have sharper eyes than me) but I can...
I do believe it darkens the felt. Something I might consider with my father's old Broner - an eighties woolie. Can't hurt, right? And I can't knock sentiment.

Edit: Question moved to its own thread. I apologize because I realize I interrupted an ongoing conversation. I wouldn't mind seeing an adventure-gear subforum as well. I don't adventure as much as I'd like, but I'm hoping to do it more!

It is a bit wide for my taste, but it does look good on you that way. Furthermore, the aforementioned practicality makes a big difference. If you do feel compelled to cut it, I would have it done professionally. I don't have a problem with modifying brand new items if I trust myself to do it...
Northwest Michigan!
West Michigan north of the Saginaw Bay Line. Four seasons, lots to do, big lake that the sun sets over. Medium-friendly people (we're midwesterners, after all). No congestion, but not so far away from everything that you can't get to it (I'm only about four hours from...
Sounds like you are looking for a new hat, but the subject of this post immediately made me think of this old ad:
The hat is a Stetson Playboy and the fellow here has the look you seem to be describing (albeit with a trench coat instead of a leather jacket - how do you work a leather...
Boy oh boy how much do I wish there were still pictures with this thread. I love model railroading (and streamline moderne, and urban planning, and historic pres...) and while I don't have a layout currently, between myself and my father I have far, far more HO-scale equipment in my parents'...
Jake Gittes liked the '35 and I've always had a soft spot for it too - especially the roadsters when slightly lowered and fitted with one of George DuVall's streamlined "speedboat" windshields. Unfortunately, you rarely see '35s without '36 front sheetmetal fitted anymore because that's what...
Interesting, I'm glad I'm not alone in wondering. I hope you'll post here when and if you find out.
That makes me wish I'd bought one all the more. You know, it just occurred to me that my other grandfather who had a war-critical job served as an Air Raid warden in Saginaw, Michigan. So...
It's always with the gangsters.
I had a homeless guy say to me the other day "don't shoot us, Clyde!" I was not expecting a Clyde Barrow reference, actually. I just grinned at him. I figure if kids can straight facedly walk around the mall with foot-tall mohawks and those weird pants with...
64tonya,
It might be a while for me. I haven't had the opportunity to drag out the old soldering iron in a while. But here are the plans that I'll be using. It doesn't seem overly complicated if you can find the parts. First, however, I've got to make a vintage handset for my cellphone...
I hate to say it, but that shot of Harrison Ford made me think that the President should start wearing fedoras.
I like that shot of you Matt, and agree on the wider ribbon. Is that the film still aboard the flying boat?
