Agree with you. I have a high wave count, very finely woven, great color patina Montecristi that was my dad's. He wore it since he got it in the 70s and after he died, 5 years ago, I've been wearing it. There's going to be a time, very soon I think, that this wonder of a hat is going to become...
May I ask why distilled water? I've never used it and are interested in knowing the benefits. When I visited the Cervo Factory years ago before I knew the lounge, I saw them use water from the Cervo river nearby to clean and soften the felt, figured if that didn't ruin them, NYC water won't either.
I took it off, put it on the bench my wife and I were sitting. 20 minutes later we stood up, went back to the car. Drove 3 blocks and then said: F%#k, where is my hat! :eusa_doh::eusa_doh: Turned around like a maniac in Roman traffic, got to the bench: hat was gone, obviously  lol lol
I owned one a number of years ago. I bought it at Bencraft. Nice hat, low crown with a bit of elegant taper. Very nice hat altogether. I lost it in Italia...:eusa_doh:
I'm offering this three item combo:
First, a 7 1/8 straight crown hat shaper. This are made in strong plastic and work great. You can block 1/8 hats without the sweatband and one size up (7 1/4) with the leather attached. The condition of this shaper is brand new. Great for giving your hats...
I was a bit off, Alan. Mine is actually from Rome. Check it out. (I'll post pics of my wife's late grandpa's (now mine ) Balbi tomorrow. We're going to his house to get some stuff during the day.)
My feather weight is from Napoli but not from Balbi. I'll post pictures of the sweat when I get home. I also have another one from Balbi that's at my wife's late grandpa's house waiting for me. I'll have it on Monday.
Indeed. Thanks for the info. When I lived in Ecuador, over a decade ago, I never saw this type of Peruvian hat. I saw other styles. I find it interesting. Thanks again.
