I had a bad experience with Hats By The Hundred around ten years ago. I ordered a Bogart in Carbon Grey... and they sent me a black one. Even when I emailed them pictures proving it was black, they wouldn't admit their mistake and pay return shipping for a replacement. I ended up selling it...
Let's give him a touch more info:
Great prices/inexpensive shipping, but not much in stock - often requires the dread three-month wait:

Higher prices/expensive shipping, but nearly everything in stock at all times...
Let's blame director Tony Scott and producer Jerry Bruckheimer more than Cruise for the macho nonsense, formula, and jingoism of Top Gun. Cruise isn't totally a formula star, he has actually stretched and given some varied performances over the years. Just off hand: Born on the Fourth of July...
Oy, it's a mess!
Check out this article - the clearest explanation I've seen yet for why the DC films have stumbled so badly vs. Marvel's success:

Very nice review! I have a Stylemaster - the exact same hat, but with a teardrop instead of a center-dent bash - in that color. I think it looks pretty dark even in bright light, and reads as black in anything less... I'd recommend the Moonstone over the Carbon/Steel/Mid-Grey to somebody who...
As somebody who watched when the series first aired... It was a very different entertainment world then. You saw an episode exactly once, and aside from short puff pieces in TV Guide and the newspapers and weekly magazines, there was no external info. No internet full of recaps and criticisms...
Schott does have a NYC store, somewhere downtown (Elizabeth Street, maybe?)
I've been meaning to check it out, but I live far enough out of the city now that it's a production number to visit, and I rarely make the effort.
Actually, the Staten Island Ferry is free, no token required. (And tokens are long gone anyway - you swipe a card for subways and buses now.) Still the world's greatest free boat ride!
A new documentary on HBO about the famous Hitchcock/Truffaut book from 1966.
I have owned a well-worn copy for, I don't know, 35 or 40 years. It's an essential, classic film book: the two directors sat down together (along with a French/English translator) for a week in the early sixties and...
Basically, they allowed "Apple Computer" to exist without infringing on their own "Apple Corps" trademark.

I live atop a mountain at the northern edge of the Hudson Highlands, at over a thousand feet elevation. My view out the back includes the distant Catskill mountains when it's clear:
Cool. Let's discuss. As a new member, I don't think you can send me a private message yet, so drop me an email:

Check out makers that specialize in replicating old hat styles. For example:

Of course, most of the custom hatters discussed at this site could help you too.
I also watched The Dark Corner. Not quite a top-class noir, but what a pleasure to see Lucy in a (mostly) dramatic role! Plenty of swoon-worthy hats and clothes too, all in gorgeous b/w.
Good film, and the one that first drew attention to Amy Adams. Embeth Davidtz, who played Madeleine, excels at those chilly demeanor roles. For example, she was later Lane Pryce's wife on Mad Men.
Casting coincidence: a few years earlier, she and Alessandro Nivola (George in Junebug) had...
Nice interview with Kevin Conroy about his long tenure voicing Batman, on the release of the direct-to-DVD animated adaptation of The Killing Joke (one of the most influential Joker stories ever, written by the brilliant - if nuts - Alan Moore [V For Vendetta, Watchmen, The League of...
Plenty of great episodes in the first season. Unlike TNG, the original series didn't require a season and a half to find itself, it hit the ground running. In fact, the majority of the series finest episodes aired in the first season.
That said, there is a distinct settling in after the first...
I've been a big fan of Troy since it first came out and I took my kids to see it theatrically.
Sure, it's FAR from an accurate adaptation of the Iliad, but as an attempt to remove the gods from the story and make a great ancient war flick with recognizable political motivations, it's excellent...
