Bruce, there's a lengthy thread on bush/safari jackets on the Great Outdoors forum which might have some discussion for you: http://www.thefedoralounge.com/showthread.php?5099-Bush-Jackets. I've got three bush/safari jackets but don't wear any of them since here in SoOnt it's either too hot for...
^ I should have said that the 106/P jackets are not only big in the chest and upper arms, but tight in the waist, so you'd better have an athletic build or be a 22 year old airman or helo crewman for it to fit. Also, they're a much more technical jacket than the older nomex, so they aren't as...
I have several 45/P and 36/P jackets in Large and they fit me just right, although the sleeves are just barely long enough. I have two 106/P jackets, one in Large Long and one Medium Long. I bought the LL thinking I'd need the same size and why not get some extra sleeve length; it fits huge...
Most excellent looking jacket, and excellent photos. I agree perfect fit too! What size is that?
Now you've got to find a vintage bi-swing Greenbrier 45/P, plus get a couple of 36/P summer jackets. I think you'll find the 36/P is an all-round great warm weather jacket. I love mine.
I might...
Buy a dozen clothes hangers with extra wide shoulders so they don't distort the shoulders of your coats or stretch them (see below). These are available in wood and plastic, but plastic is fine (and cheaper). These can be bought for a few dollars from any retail store supplier, i.e. a store that...
Thanks very much for the photos -- with patches too!
Your jacket's matte finish resembles what I've seen in photos on Cockpit and Alpha's websites, but I had thought it was just a trick of digital cameras, which are notoriously inconsistent when it comes to photographing shiny finishes. I bet...
I've been working on a buyer's guide to these jackets for regular joes and this is interesting info. What's the date on these new jackets with the strange cloth? Look on the tag for a two-digit number right before a single letter. That's the year. See below.
If Finland's climate is anything like Canada's, then you will find a 45/P to be sort of useless in serious cold. I wore one this past winter and found it's a spring, fall jacket only!
I don't want to be "that guy" but let's keep this thread about WEP jackets, G&B or otherwise.
By the way, BigJ, nice choice for an avatar; excellent movie, now mostly ignored.
