In some way it's kind of funny that so many people ask for altered Irvins.
Just imagin a young flying officer in 1940:
"I say, Squadron leader, can I get my Irvin a bit longer, if it's not too much trouble -and the sleeves a bit more tight, please?"
lol
Have a great trip, Dixon Cannon. You're going to love it.
Avoid Pisa - it's a tourist trap.
Go to Sienna instead. A great and beautifull city.
(Got a very good restaurant there - if you are intersted)
Avoid the restaurants on the townhall square. Only good for a very expensive coffe or...
Don't know what happened to the other picture. So here we go again.
And yes, John L. you may be right, that Aero used a whole skin for each panel. (What else could they do. I stand 6'4 and has a chest/shoulders like a barrel.)
But I am also pretty sure that the manufactureres of Irvins back...
Here is a picture of my new Ace Cafe sweater - don't know if its more or less "original" - bottom line is, it's a damn nice sweater.:D
I have more or less lived in it since I got it.
Greeny - when it all boils down, it's a matter of you own personal taste.
But I will suggest, that you talk to Amanda at Aero.
They are very open to alterations/personal taste - you might even be able to talk them into making the sleeves a bit tighter. If that's your problem.
Good luck - and...
Tak skal du ha' - no it was my mistake. The package from US - with custome!!!! - was a very nice scarf from Petermann. I had just forgotten all about it - and got things mixed up.
The jersey/sweater came directly from UK - with some delay due to a strike.
Smithy: How many volumes are there of Dilips Photographs of BoB. I' ve been able to spot 4 - are there more than that?
Sounds like something I should get hold of.:)
Don't know - I only know that my Ace Cafe Sweater was shipped from US - allthough the Ace Cafe Shop is in UK. Strange....?
Haven't picked it up at the postoffice yet. Maybe I will know a lot more in a few hours.
(Edit)
Now I am so much wiser and forgetful - it wasn't a sweater in the mail -...

HI DR.
Regarding your RAF BD with Eagle Sq insignia.
To my knowledge the battle dress uniforms were not in use in the beginning of the war - only came in use around 1942 (don't hang me for this) - but weren't all the Eagle Squadrons in USAAF by then? Just a thought.
I may be wrong - or you...
I am 100% behind Sam here.
An old french farmer once taught me the secret.
You take a local cheese, a local bread - and a local wine.
Chew the cheese and bread together - while you still have it in your mouth, you take a sip of the wine. Chew it all together and enjoy...heaven!:D
