I live on a mountain the AT crosses: it's just a fifteen-minute walk to join it, so I hike it frequently. But I'm strictly a dayhiker, not an overnight backpacker. I've been on sections of the trail in NY, CT, MA, NH, and VT over the years, but I can only look on in awe at thru-hikers!
If you...
Quentin Durward, the third of a trio of 50s M-G-M swashbucklers filmed in England starring Robert Taylor, directed by Richard Thorpe.
The previous films are Ivanhoe (1952, 4 stars) and Knights of the Round Table (1953, 2 stars). This one was made in 1955, and I'd rate it at 2-1/2 stars. I can't...
So you have other-side zippers on Canadian-made jackets too?
Sorry to have left out the rest of the world. My apparently limited knowledge of this factoid comes from what I've read HERE and in other clothing forums over the last 15 years.
Thanks. Another try at the URL:

I mean, $99?!?
Speaking of Taylor's Leatherwear, do any of you guys think this looks like a worthwhile bargain?

A Kurosawa film from 1970 I'd never seen, Dodes'ka-den. About a bunch of poor oddballs living in a dump on the outskirts of a large city: it reminded me of Tortilla Flat or Cannery Row. As in those Steinbeck books, the range of lowlife characters reflect many different stories, and all are...
You know, I got my US A A-2 way back in 2002. Their cut and sizing could be completely different now. Going forward, I will stop reporting my experience with their sizing.
Their sizing runs long-but-trim (*) - which doesn't work on a widebody like me - but they are pretty good generic repros for their moderate price. They are a small operation, and their jackets have a more rough-hewn, handmade feel than other makers. If their odd sizing works for you, great...
I considered watching this, but I'm just too backed up with other stuff. (For example, I figured Netflix's The Crown should be a higher priority.) And didn't that film with Emily Blunt from a decade ago, The Young Victoria, cover this story sufficiently?
Agreed. Hail, Caesar! isn't a class-A Coen Bros. film. But even a class-B Coen Bros. film is a rare delight. The parts that work are brilliant, the parts that don't are easy to ignore, and it's simply gorgeous to look at.
I was pretty disappointed when I saw it in theaters last winter, but I...
That looked and felt a lot more like a series finale than just a season finale for Sherlock.
I thought it was a mess, but it definitely had its moments. Like the phone conversation with poor Molly Hooper. And Sherlock's perfect response to Mycroft's "But it's family." - "That's why he stays!"...
Bridge of Spies. A good film, but it didn't live up to the hype for me. Very well done, but it didn't engage my emotions. Not the top-level Spielberg I expected.
Sure, I get that. But I still don't understand how the center-dent Bogart would respond differently from the otherwise identical teardrop Stylemaster and be "better". Same brim size, same ribbon, same degree of taper in the crown, same front dents, comparable crown height. Why would one bash...
I'm curious why you think long ovals fit the Bogart better. The Stylemaster and Bogart are both circular (not oval *) hats, don't have dimensional brims, and are virtually identical apart from their different creases.
(* All the Stetsons I've had have been slightly oval, but all the Akubras are...
It's too cold for leather jackets up here now (though yesterday was freakishly warm, so I pulled out my G&B M-422A!) Once it stays below 40, I'm wearing my pea coat, tanker jacket, or MA-1s instead of my leathers. And really, they're ALL classics!
TXFlyGuy, what's your source about Illinois? Don't Legendary jackets come from the same NJ factory as Schott, US Wings, Cockpit, Sporty's, etc? I thought we established this point here years ago. All of these low-to-midrange brands are way more similar than different.
Nothing against...
