As far as I can remember, one of the nicest Stetson panamas I've seen belongs to feltfan - and there's no doubt that it's a Stetson. I'd forgotten just how finely it's woven, but this is very rare for Stetson, and this hat isn't the typical Medalist panama we see everyday on ebay.

+1. That is a lovely hat. I don't think I've ever seen a Stetson nearly so fine, and I'd expect Stetson labels all over it.

Things always take this turn. It's about variety and availability. Sometimes you get lucky and get a well woven cheap hat. You might even buy a $1200 panama that's the equal of a $10k panama from one of those "up-market" guys.
