Thanks gang!:) I'm hedging my bets that this 7 1/8 will fit. It's weird, the hats that I've gotten from OFAS range from 7 1/8 to 7 3/8 and they all fit about the same. Some of the smaller ones take a bit of a stretching, but once done they're fitting well. That & a short haircut seems to...
It looks similar tho the grey Dobbs I picked up the other day. Very nice catch you got there, but yea, Dinerman's right, they bashed it backwards. Oops.:eusa_doh:
Congratulations!:eusa_clap

I just love these educational disscussions. Very cool indeed!:) Thank you gentlement for your input & knowledge. And yes that is where the term 'mad hatter' did come from, at least that is what I understand in reading numerous articles & books pertaining to such subjects.

My jealousies to you Dinerman.:D I see some wonderful potential in that hat of yours once it is cleaned up and the ribbon sewn back on. Wow! Congratulations!:eusa_clap :eusa_clap I cant wait to see some after photos. Please be sure to post those when you are done. I've been wanting a Disney...
Kohl's usually has a fine selection of dress shirts at a decent price. I've gotten a couple there with a very 30's look to the collar, and have managed to find a french cuff dress shirt there with the same type of collar. If you need a slightly classier shirt I would suggest the Men's Warehouse...
Judging by his location in California, he's in my neck of the woods too. He has some really nifty hats, but alas few in my size. When he does, there is usually a bidding war for his stuff. I like his descriptions because he offers a wealth of info on the hat and has some fabulous images. I guess...
Cool! That is a sweet score!:eusa_clap
I would love to learn how to use one of those, that would be a most useful devise and talent. The more we learn the more we grow.:) I must keep an eye out for one of these.

Here are a few pics thus far folks. On my monitor it looks a tad green but it's not.
So far I've just used a can of Scout dark hat cleaner. Why the dark cleaner you may ask, well because I found that the light hat cleaner leaves a funky residue (almost a powder) and just...
Would love to know more...
Other than that article, does anybody have any information about the Dunlap Hat Co. or the Browning-King Co.? What was the quality and such, when were they at their apex? Did they get absorbed and lost their names or did they go the way of the dodo? I would love to...
Actually I'm sort of partial to the porkpie crown. It seemed to take to that shape with very little persuading.:) but the center dent works well too. It'll depend on the occassion I guess.;)

Enquiring minds want to know...
I know this has been discussed to some degree in other numerous threads, but I believe it could be discussed again, but in depth, istead of a glossing. The big fear is the damage the chemicals do to the leather. Some have reported no adverse effects to the...
Thank you all, very much! Well, it came in yesterday. Not a bad looking hat. It does smell like an old ashtray though. The pewter color comes from years in a smokers home.:( If one folds down the ribbon the original color shows up as a dove or flint grey against the yellowish/grey. The cleaning...
Thank you gentlemen. Too kind indeed.:o
I found a little bit of history on the Knox-Dunlap hatters rivalry.
