Here's one building:
(that's where I work.. for now, that is)
It was built in late 1920s, and early 1930s, for the sole purpose of being the "It" building: headquarters of municipalities. And it still is, and it still looks the same as in the postcards. Ahh.. :D
Boy, oh boy..
"John Saunder went through 48 bottles of Old Farm Pure Rye Whiskey, valued at $102,400."
Poor Mr. Saunder, he's a raving alcoholic.. and there should be a special - "vintage" place for him at the AA meetings.
shhhhhhhh I'm sure he'll NEVER find out.
Here a weird one for ya:
So, Nazis were losing, yeah? But this curious propaganda map does attempt to tout the accumulation of small defeats as some kind of victory: Yes, the Allies are advancing, but a snail could do it quicker! :der:
When That Man Is Dead And Gone by: Al Bowlly
(Actually, I'm listening to The 1940s UK Radio online.. and this past hour was dedicated to Al Bowlly)

You see that huge pink mass?
Of course you do.. now: DO you see that tiny pink mass to it's slightly lover left? (take your time.. or take your glasses)
....there.
That's were I am. :bolt:
Lenore,
Well, dear.. what to say, but: ENJOY your evening. :eyebrows:
For me, tonight is concert-night. :violin: Evergreen, international ballads.. (yes, I'm going on my own). Later on, I might get me some beer with those "we're too cool for good music" folks I call my besties.
I've just ordered Avon Extra Lasting Lipstick:
(in Eternal Flame)
Any experience, like: what to expect?
Reviews are divided: some liked it, some cursed it! [huh]
I'm baffled here, ladies.
Sam, make-up artist from Pixiwoo (they to marvelous looks on YouTube.. including LOTS of vintage-y ones)...
olive bleu,
I hear you!
(to be honest: I've spent last evening re-writing the Inventory list.. since YES, we still have "inventory committee" where I live and YES, I'm the youngest member, hence it's my treacherous duty to write and re-write the Inventory.. every chair, every staple-gun.. in...
5. PRINTED SHIRTS
Apparently everyone is head-over-heels for these. They pre-order that "Kenzo" printed shirt, and then wear it with a nice skirt. Oh, wait.. where have I seen that one:
2. THE SUIT
They've said "suit is a must-have"
(I'm sure I'm not the only one who finds words "must-have" overly used these days.. we "must-have" it all)
Few days ago, a colleague of mine shows up at work with Gracia-magazine. As I tumble up-and-down flashy pictures (some of them reminded me of Carmen Miranda at her best!) ... I realize:
1. STRIPES
..on your leggings (not that I tend to look like Beetlejuise), on your cropped shirt (OK, I...
Black Dahlia,
I've just finished reading your blog post on charms. It was lovely. Jumping-jack charm fascinated me, 'cause I say nothing like it here. And Sandys Vintage Charms had so many inspiring little trinkets.
You wrote a good one! :thumb:
Today?
Hm.. let me see (oh, this morning, 6AM was lone time ago)
1. Avon calming effects foundation (ivory)
2. On the oily zones: Max Factor Creme Puff powder (105)
3. On everything else: Manhattan translucent loose powder (no. 1)
4. Eyebrow pencil (for the life of me, I can't read the name.. I...
First of all: what you are doing is wonderful!
Second (and this is coming from a girl who shaved her head ..rather bad perm made me do it some years ago):
1. HATS, hats, hats. In all form, all colors.. because you'll be getting a LOT of "What's wrong with her" looks, even in these...
Emm.. unfortunately, this one is the only one translated. [huh] All hail translators of the old days; they actually did a great job (and didn't translate just the bestsellers!).
As I'm aware, Thackeray's works were published in "Punch" magazine.. and he mentioned it more than once in his book...
