I had to go check both my Disneys. The "Alpenhute" velour made by Anton Peschel of Dinkelsbühl Germany says Imported for Disney Hats with the fancy D liner, no Mr. on sweat or liner. If memory serves, Steve said it was mid 50's
The "Handover" is a back-bow underwelt, so I'm guessing late 50's...
I was under the impression that Disney Hats had to add the Mr. as the result of having been sued by Disney Studios over use of the name. It probably irked the Disney of hats because the Mr. (in my experience from scouring the internet for old buntal straws to convert) usually meant a male...
I have used Dollar Tree wool detergent with good results. I think it has just enough stuff in it to clean out the gunk naptha doesn't but not enough actual soap to leave much residue. But if I run across the Orvis I'll grab some for the future.

The only other I had seen before I spotted this one on the Goodwill site was one Alan had posted. His, of course, in far better condition but I'm still stoked just to have one at all!

If I recall correctly a Lounger whose name I forget (but whose knowledge I respect) mentioned that...
Hey everyone!
I've been hoping to find one of these in decent shape and at a reasonable price for some time. I was thrilled to see this one on Etsy. For 32 bucks shipped I can deal with a few cracks and dings. :)
Looks good with my 7 3/8 flange
I dug out an old funky rabbit felt...
A late night/early morning Etsy victory from a couple weeks ago.
It arrived today, finally! Supposed to be priority mail, but I think it was sent instead on the back of a three-legged turtle. Oh well, just built up the anticipation.
Out of the box
Normally I'd be mad if I got a hat packed...
