Not exactly the same - but quite close. You might like to take a look at this fishermans sweater from the danish SNS company.

I was actually bidding on Stevens Irvin - but in the end it got too crazy for my wallet.
Did not bid on the other one either - but someday the right Irvin in the right size will come my way. And until that day, I enjoy my Aero.
When messing around with chemicals to make the new buttons look old, would probably involve a greater risk of ruining the coat - than removing buttons and sewing old ones in. Just a thought! ;)
Have a pair of Aero 1936 pattern boots (leather sole/rubber heel).
The only thing I've done - or my local cobbler has done - is adding a thin rubber sole on the leathersole.
Keeps the damp out, gives more milage and - as I later found out - a rather good grip on ice and snow too.
My wife and I...
Nice to re-read this old thread. In the meantime I've had a very nice - and short - RAF moustache. But unfortunately my wife and I do not share the same enthusiasme on the subject.
So now it's just stubbles and cleanshaven, stubbles and cleanshaven.
Just found this rather nice picture of Lewis starting up his Hurricane. I am only guessing here, but I think it's from the Life photo session at Castle Camps, when Lewis was with 85 Squadron.
