Perry - That's a sweeeeeet Strat, dude!!
Robert - Nice homburg. Pity it's not your size. Pity it's not MY size!! :)
Manfred - Super Velour! The condition is beautiful; I'm always amazed at the condition of velour hats. I always have a horrible image of moldy stained velour hats that were...
Before giving it a bath, I would send the hat to a custom hatter. Ask for a 2" ribbon to cover up the green spot. I bet someone would have a 2" brown, black, or other complimentary color. They can also attach a fresh liner and sweatband. That hat has a lot of potential. :thumb:
Thanks for the comments, everyone. I was wondering if that post actually posted. My computer kept "waiting" and I never saw it post. Maybe my office started figuring out my FL habits and blocked my access!
Here is another shot of the Dobbs 15 that I took tonight...
Memphis -
I like the re-work on your Buckaroo. I thought it would be too low from your description, but it's just about right. And that's what matters most, that you enjoy the hat with confidence. You look a lot more comfortable in the second picture after it was lowered. Nicely done.
I chose to wear my Dobbs TWENTY. It was a nice contrast with my new Hawes & Curtis shirt from London. The first pic is from last week and the second pic is today, I pushed the front of the crown up a bit and I tightened up the pinch with deeper side dents. As with most black hats, it's a...
Nice "Che-dam" today, hatto!
Massive. I see you painting your next masterpiece in that beret. :thumb:
A natural classic, indeed, Big-e!!
With that brim, it's a worthy hat, for sure! The woolie looks great even for a bummy day, m0nk. :)
Robert - That looks like a very warm hat...
The second hat I sent Mike is a dark grey Borso. The only thing I'm having him do is a re-size and add an edge binding. At first, I was thinking of a high contrast color, like pink or a light blue. But after some research, I've decided to go with something a little safer; it's called...
mrwilmoth - Nice bowler!
David - I'm surprised your hat hasn't turned blue from the temps! It might turn in to a stiff felt by 'noon.
Rogera - That high crown is ace!!
Dean - I really like the felt color on your Buckaroo. Good combo. :thumb:
Memphis, those hats were made by Mike Miller of Northwest Hats. Give him a ring or shoot him an email. Super easy to work with and affordable, but don't let me steer you away from other fine hatters. Just thought you might want to go straight to the source.
I talked with Mike this evening about some ribbon options for a Beaver Brand OR silverbelly that's currently in for a modification. He's going to cut the brim down for me, possibly to 2 3/8", and put a wider binding on it. Here is a teaser with a blue-grey ribbon...
