1 key thought = you can only get the Moonstone CD in Heritage, so that should help the decision process.
Minor thought = if I could only have 1 CD, it'd be the Moonstone.
I got plenty of other SB lids & few grey ones that come close to the Moonstone.
The Heritage SB is a nice shade & even...
The silverbelly is a lighter color & will reflect heat a tad better than the fawn. The fawn isn't that dark & not sure I'd be able to detect that tad bit, even in the humid GA heat of August. Miami is more tropical, so I'd go for the silverbelly with the liner out. Just saw a Lounger put vent...
TAR Tuesday! Beaver Brand Kangaroo Classic....
After some research, I think this is from the Classic line by Beaver Brand but actually a River Runner model. From John Helmer website
Thanks Frank. I bought 3 vintage Open Roads from this lady who got them in an estate sale from this one old timer. All 3 had this type crease & tho I changed those hats, I found myself doing others with it. I like long side dents & this is a little less "factory pressed" than a cattleman/alpine...
+1... the 2 that get the least noggin time are mid-brown & glen grey.
I'd put the order in for the Taupe Fawn & get the BGCD right away for wearing this Fall while you wait...
The biggest challenge at screening is the "curtain" as the bins go into the scanner. That thing knocks hats off/out of bins & then lets the belt have its way with them.
Best to not have the hat on top of a coat or shoes...
Felt hats have been & can be re-blocked & re-flanged. That was part of regular hat wear back in the day. What you can do on your own is up to you & your creativity & capabilities which is hard for others to answer. I have used a steam iron, handkerchief & the edge of an ironing board to rework...
Remember you are messing with a bound edge snap brim so working the ribbon material along with the felt brim is involved. Depending on how snuggly the binding was applied will be a factor on your brim shaping. I've seen a good many bound edged westerns but they aren't flanged like a snap brim...
The Grand Wanderer
Finally creased the Legacy felt custom Wanderer from Vintage Silhouettes.
A gem like this deserves a multi-faceted diamond crease = 5 sided diamond crease.
Now if the weather would allow me to wear it...my dog, Taz, is not that impressed tho...
