I don't know what i am talking about, but the way i see it in this case is a curved back bottom hem, two sloped side panels and then sloped front panels.
If you trace a line from the center back to the front you don't get a straight line, it's more complicated than a gradual slope.
edit: when...
But the Imperial also has a curved back bottom hem which makes the drop appear longer than it actually is.
I would love to see what 5 star came up with if you asked for a front drop and a curved hem...
I honestly have no idea.
I have a few veg tan jackets but i don't wear them when i know it is going to be very wet as i know they just won't protect me that well.
With LW leather i know i can stand in the rain all day and still be dry inside, i doubt that would be the case with Shinki, so i...
Yes and no, spray bottle will get you started, but won't be as effective as getting rained on for hours at a time.
For example my J-23 was sprayed heavily when i first got it, which helped.
I then spent a week in Scotland with my GF and we got rained on non stop for 5 days, after day two my...
I don't think you are being fair, that's like calling all german cars bad because one person blows up an engine.
One freak failure doesn't give you enough information to decide that "there’s too much emphasis in form over function in the high end repro world".
The failure is IMO not age related...
I do use spray bottles if i don't have acces to rain.
When i lived in London i used demineralized water as London water is super hard and would leave a white deposit on black leather.
Now that i am back in Belgium i use tap water as i have a water softener.
Will the buckles even work the way they are mounted? That's not how they are supposed to work.
IMO they are mounted backwards and i don't think they will hold without the double back.
Saying that you could do the double back towards the front like on @Marc mndt 's jacket above...
But the...
Yep, something like that, it was a brown Humel Canuck i think on eBay.
Didn't save the pics back then and can't find them online anymore.
It was far worst than that i think, a good 20cm tear i the exact same spot.
Just measured a few of mine:
Freewheelers LaBrea: 10-12
Lost worlds: 8-9
Vansons: 6-8
Aero: 6
Himel: 9-11
Schott: 6-7
Langlitz: 6
RMC: 8
Eastman 8-9
I agree that the sweet spot at least visually is somewhere around 7-9, more than that looks neat but fragile...
The only two jackets i have seen...
In the bass world there is this legend that says that Jaco Pastorius used to eat fried chicken and not wash his hands before every gig he played.
Apparently the chicken grease prevented his fingers from sticking...
Today here is another rare/uncommon LW jacket, the Nightrider J-23.
This jacket is unique, they only made one (i asked Stu and he told me they made less than 5 of the Green peacoat i posted yesterday). Apparently it has no historical inspiration, Buco never did a "Nightrider" like Trojan did...
