    Vintage 1950's Christmas Festivities

    Vintage 1950's Christmas Festivities

Get the biggest aluminum tree you can find, and maybe paint it pink! lol Oh yes, the mall gets a flying jump ahead of everyone on the holiday season. I make myself wait until November first, then I play Andy Williams in the car :D

    Vintage 1950's Christmas Festivities

I adore Christmas, especially traditional ones. My favourite part is the huge old fashioned dinner: The big turkey, the homemade stuffing, pâté, and a nice cake for dessert. My mum and I usually make candy cake cookies, too. We have as many family members as possible, and therefore, as much...

    Excessive posting? ... Interesting.....

Crazy! My dad had a '94 Neon that he sold in about '02 for $3000.00. But, it was a stick, had 58 000 kilometres on it, and a huge dent in the driver's door from when he opened it into a fire hydrant (during a bad snowstorm, and the thing was covered.) My grandfather left his '95 Dodge Dakota...

Husband accidently chucks out $50,000 worth of jewellery!

Yes, there were some errors there. And come on, the Canadian Gov't isn't that inept... :p

    Dear Fedora Lounge,

No, *dated style* is what you say about a bathroom that was last refurbished in 1979. Our Beauty forum is any aspiring pin-up girl's first stop for knowledge! I defy you to find a better online source for vintage hair!

The general decline in standards today

Oh yes, I knew quite a few women in the Canadian Army who served as infantiers and weapons technicians, and many of them were in the throes of action in Afghanistan. They were some tough cookies. I know quite a few female sailors in my boyfriend's unit, too, but as far as I know they have...

    The Middy Thread

Sure it's permitted! Turudich's 1940's Hairstyles (aka The Middy Bible) even does a page on that style. I'll pull the page and post it in a few. ETA: Here it is. She still has the top section of hair cut exactly as in the diagram, but its much longer. She also has slightly less layering.

Thinking about a tattoo, but is it what good girls did in the 1940's?

Stardust, that looks fantastic! I love the colouring! Yeah, I had my first tattoo done when I was 17 at a "reputable" place, and they sold me Tattoo Goo (they also overcharged me for a crooked tattoo.) It wasn't until I went to my now favourite place for my second that they told me the Goo...

Battling the Elements, or: Why I Hate St. Petersburg

Cute! I just bought one of those big vintage fur hats at the last antique show I went to, it looks like this (except silver): I haven't tried wearing them in sub zero temperatures yet, but they sure look adorable, and I don't see why they wouldn't be extremely warm.

What makeup are you wearing today?

Is this what a trendsetter feels like? :D I keed, I keed. Glad to hear your eye is improving!

Another question about hair--taming the mane.

I had this problem too, but soon you'll get the feel. Try putting a tiny bit on your fingertips and pulling them through your curls, then repeating until it takes shape. I find that even frizzy or awkwardly set curls will take on new life with pomade, not to mention that they last about 2 days...
