I must admit, I've had some of my sheepskin Irvins on hangers for several summers - without any damage done. (pheeewww)
But I will not recommend it.
Now I simply fold it up lightly in an old leathersuitcase - drop a pice of cedarwood in for the good smell - and leave it there for the summer.

This very early Irvin model from Aviation Leather Craft is from the beginning of the 70's.
Well worn but still in a nice shape. The only thing worth mentioning is the loose seam at the lower part of the zipper. It can easily be repaired - or just let i be. The zipper works anyway.
I do believe...
Wear it like you hate it! (In rain, storm, snow, mud...whatever. As long as you can take it, the jacket can too)
Wear it to bed - and your wife/girlfriend will hate it too!
