My new Aces High Irvin is almost done now. Jon has kept me posted all the way, on the progress and now we are only waiting for some zippers to arrive, then it can be put together. Here are some of the resent pics of the finished collar. The back, front, belt and sleeves are all ready too. Only...
If you could design you own private, favorite fragrance (Perfume or Eua de Cologne) what would it be like?
Which notes and smells would you include?
I would like to have one that smelled like old aeroplanes:
Leather, hot oil on metal and high octane fuel mixed with a bit of cordite. Fresh...
As a designschool student I once mad a packaging project with a fragrance all thought up by me: Leather, horsesweat and a little wet wool. Called it Hussar.
Wonder if it would have had a future?
Come to think of the anecdote regarding The launch of Guinness in USA.
They ran their usual "Guinness is Good for You" campaign - but the results were meager, to say the least.
So finally the ad agency came up with a campaign saying: "Guinness is too good for you!"
With a few lines of copy...
My wife's just returned from a trip to London, where she actually both saw and tried on the jacket in the RL store.
She said it's very soft - except for the places where they have reinforced with other leather. This leather is very stiff and solid.
All in all - she says - a good quality, well...
Thanks, Tim. Yes it truly is a great jacket.
But I do not need two. I am not a collector - at least not of repro Irvins. And since I can only wear one at a time, it has to go.
At the mo there is a gent in the US of A, who's shown some interest. We'll just see what happens.
Hi guys - just to let you all know that my AERO Irvin - size 50-52 is still up for sale. I have just lowered the price to £ 325,- plus postage. My new one is about to land at my doorstep - and I need the space. And the cash :)
C'mon guys - it's a bloody bargain! :)
That is some corker of a jacket you got there, Irvinsuit! And I am very sure, it will look like straight out of the depot, when it's done.
Reg. label - I am no magician - but I too would try to use photoshop or something like it, to edit a pic of the label, in order to see faded details.
This time from Ralph Lauren.
Here is the ad:
And here are som pics from their website:
And at the neat price of USD 2.498,- !!!!!!!
(You can get originals for half the price - and with lots of history and logged flyingtime too)
At least I find it better looking than the...
Go for a stache - why not? But please don't do the trucker thing. Keep it above your lips. Or to the corner of your mouth...(That's just my opinion :))
This is the only photo I could find of my Chevignon jacket. It's from 1990 or 1991.
Sorry for the cropping (looked completely stupid) and the quality of the picture.
But the color of the jacket is visible. I hope.
Looking good G&T. Only problem is in your own mind, because you probably have these images of great, big, impressive handlebars.
Looking at your picture - and blocking out all the other bushy handlebar-images, it's nice! Great - looking good.
Just give it time. You are on the right way.
And...
Griff - that Chevignon jacket - exactly the same - was the first leather jacket I ever owned. Sweet memories.
That was before the real world of A2s and Irvins came rolling in, with all the rights and wrongs. Armlengths and collarstands. Cherry knittings and patternes of vent holes under the...
